The Campus Placements Program provides career opportunities to students in government and private organizations that are actively associated with rural development, agribusiness, microfinance, and other allied fields.

On Campus: The spacious WiFi-enabled campus has a hostel complex that provides well-furnished accommodation with a mess facility and a recreational area. Other infrastructure includes classrooms with audio-visual teaching equipment, centres devoted to training and research, a superb library, a computer centre, a student activity centre, sports facilities, a dispensary, etc.

IRMA PG Diploma in Rural Management

The AICTE-approved PGDM (RM) is the flagship program of IRMA. It is a 2-year full-time residential Master's level program that, since its inception in 1979, has a history of outstanding placement records. Meritorious students are eligible for scholarships, and work experience is not necessary to enroll for it. There are 240 seats, out of which up to 5% is allocated to NRI students. Note that there is no management quota for this program.

PGDM (RM) Curriculum: You will be studying Rural Finance, Microfinance, HR, Operations Management, Marketing Management, etc. The courses in the classroom segment of the first year that cover three terms with 12 credits are mandatory for all students. The second year of three terms carries 10 credits with electives associated with Rural Development Management and Rural Enterprise Management.

A unique aspect of the curriculum is the Induction Fieldwork Segment (IFS) of 4 to 5 days during which you will be staying with a host family in a village in Gujarat, thus providing an opportunity to study the local economy and interact with the communities. This experience will prepare you for the Village Fieldwork Segment (VFS) that is scheduled after the first term of the classroom segment. In this segment, you will take up activities of a local host organization, and assist faculty with surveys and field research work. There is also a Summer Internship Segment (SIS) after you complete the third Term of the course. During the 9-week internship, you will work with an organization with experienced management professionals.

PGDM (RM) Eligibility criteria

You should be a Graduate in any discipline with a total of at least 15 years of academic studies and a score of 50% or above aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA at the graduation level (45% or above for SC/ST/OBC (NC)/General (EWS)/PwD candidates).

You can also apply if you are appearing in the final year of the Bachelor's Degree exam but must have passed all the graduation exams before the start of the program, that is, 1st July 2024. In case you do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria, you will be instructed to withdraw from the program, and the fees that you paid will be forfeited unless IRMA fills the vacant seat through new admissions.

Management Test scores: Candidates will be shortlisted for the second stage of assessment based on their scores in CAT-2023/CMAT-2023/XAT-2024. This stage includes the IRMA Written Ability Test (IRMAWAT) and a Personal Interview (PI). The 30-minute test will gauge your analytical abilities, creative thinking, communication skills, etc. You can select your interview location (to be conducted in 12 States) while applying for admission.

If you are one of the shortlisted candidates, you will be intimated by email and/or SMS. NRI candidates should refer to the official application guidebook for their assessment criteria.

Other parameters during selection for admission: While shortlisting candidates for admission, IRMA will also consider other aspects, such as sports or extracurricular activities, the NIRF-2023 ranking of the institute/university from which you graduated, etc (refer to the list of Aspirational Districts, too, that is provided at the official website).
