IRMA PG Diploma in Rural Management
The AICTE-approved PGDM (RM) is the flagship program of IRMA. It is a 2-year full-time residential Master's level program that, since its inception in 1979, has a history of outstanding placement records. Meritorious students are eligible for scholarships, and work experience is not necessary to enroll for it. There are 240 seats, out of which up to 5% is allocated to NRI students. Note that there is no management quota for this program.
PGDM (RM) Curriculum: You will be studying Rural Finance, Microfinance, HR, Operations Management, Marketing Management, etc. The courses in the classroom segment of the first year that cover three terms with 12 credits are mandatory for all students. The second year of three terms carries 10 credits with electives associated with Rural Development Management and Rural Enterprise Management.
A unique aspect of the curriculum is the Induction Fieldwork Segment (IFS) of 4 to 5 days during which you will be staying with a host family in a village in Gujarat, thus providing an opportunity to study the local economy and interact with the communities. This experience will prepare you for the Village Fieldwork Segment (VFS) that is scheduled after the first term of the classroom segment. In this segment, you will take up activities of a local host organization, and assist faculty with surveys and field research work. There is also a Summer Internship Segment (SIS) after you complete the third Term of the course. During the 9-week internship, you will work with an organization with experienced management professionals. PGDM (RM) Eligibility criteria
