Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), Delhi has opened admissions to the Ph.D. programs for the winter academic session 2023-24.

Over the years, IGDTUW has established excellent research facilities with new labs and centres of excellence with the support of the Govt. and encourages faculty and students with research incentives and awards. IGDTUW has also entered into academic collaborations with national and international organizations and universities in the field of science and technology. Note that there are limited hostel seats available for Ph.D. students who are from outside Delhi, so apply early.
IGDTUW Ph.D. Programs
Eligibility: You can apply for a regular full-time or a part-time Ph.D. program after you acquire an undergraduate/postgraduate degree. You can also apply for a direct Ph.D. program (full-time) after a 4-year Bachelor's Degree/1-year Master's Degree. There is no minimum or maximum age criterion for admission to the Ph.D. programs.
In addition to the above basic eligibility criteria, you have to appear for the Research Aptitude Test (RAT). However, if you have qualified UGC-CSIR-JRF/NET or have a valid GATE score, then you do not have to appear for the RAT exam. You can directly appear for the interview.

Financial support: Meritorious students can apply for scholarships, and IGDTUW offers financial assistance to full-time Ph.D. scholars who do not have any kind of financial assistance from any other source. Students can also avail of financial assistance for presenting a research paper at a national/international conference.

The Research Aptitude Test (RAT) for admission to Ph.D. programs at IGDTUW is a written test of 2 hours with 60 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) having two sections-
(i) 30 questions about research aptitude, logical reasoning, analytical and numerical ability, graphical analysis, quantitative comparison, data interpretation, and reading comprehension. The questions will be common to all disciplines.
(ii) 30 MCQ questions about the specific discipline. You need to score a minimum of 50% to qualify for the interview round (min. 45% for those applying in the SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled (PD) categories).
The RAT will be conducted in these disciplines: (1) Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) (2) Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Applications (3) Mechanical & Automation Engineering (4) Chemistry (5) Maths (6) Physics (7) English and (8) Electrical Engineering (under the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering).

Those who qualify for the entrance exam will be shortlisted for the interview round. In this, you will discuss the specific area of research that you are interested in working on. Your competency for the proposed research will be gauged by the interview panel, whether that research work can be suitably undertaken at IGDTUW, and whether the proposed area of research will be beneficial in some way through contributing new or additional knowledge to the field of that research.IGDTUW Ph.D. Application procedure

Before applying, go through the official admission brochure that includes the instructions for the online application process and the list of documents that are required to be uploaded during this process.Important dates
The last date to submit applications is 26th December 2023.
The RAT exam will be conducted on 2nd January 2024.
The result of the RAT exam will be announced on 4th January 2024.
The list of candidates shortlisted for interviews will be displayed on the official website on 5th January 2024.
The interviews for Ph.D. admissions (all programs) will be scheduled offline from 8th to 10th January 2024.
The list of selected candidates will be displayed on the official website on 15th January 2024.
The online payment of the full fee should be done from the 16th to the 18th of January 2024.
The last date of admission to the Ph.D. program is 19th January 2024.
The Counselling sessions of waitlisted candidates, if any, and online payment of the full fee will be done from 22nd to 23rd January 2024.
