Anna University TANCET 2024 for MBA, MCA Degree admissions - Eligibility, Syllabus, Dates
Eager to get admission to Anna University for MBA or MCA courses or other universities and colleges in Tamil Nadu? You have to clear the Anna University Chennai Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET), complete information about which is provided in this article. Details of the eligibility requirements to appear for TANCET - 2024, the schedule, the entrance test syllabi, the exam fee, and the online registration and application process have been provided.
Anna University will soon open applications for the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET - 2024) from students seeking admission to the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A.) programs for the academic year 2024-2025.

Candidates from other States are also welcome to apply for TANCET-2024. However, whether you are of the State of Tamil Nadu or another State, successfully clearing TANCET-2024 does not automatically make you eligible for admission to the MBA or MCA course for the forthcoming academic session. You also need to apply for admission separately to the university/college where you are seeking admission and fulfill the required eligibility criteria of that university/college.
Where the MBA and MCA courses are offered-
Eligibility requirements
For MBA courses: You should have passed a recognized Bachelor's Degree which is obtained through a minimum 3-year course, with at least 50% marks (45% in the case of BC, BCM, MBC, SC, SCA, and ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) in the qualifying degree exam.
The Degree/Diploma that has been completed through any of these is also acceptable for the MBA courses through TANCET- (i) 10 + 2 + 3/4/5-years pattern; (ii) 10 + 3 years Diploma +2/3 years pattern; or (i) 10 + 2 + AMIE with 2 years of experience or a 10 + 3 years diploma that has been awarded by the State Board of Technical Education + AMIE with 2 years of experience.
For MCA courses: You should have passed a recognized Bachelor's Degree which is obtained through a minimum 3-year course in BCA or B.Sc. (Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent), or passed a recognized Bachelor's degree program through a minimum 3-year course in disciplines other than the ones mentioned, with Maths at the 10 + 2 level or at the Graduation Level. You should have got at least 50% marks (45% in the case of BC, BCM, MBC, SC, SCA, and ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) in the qualifying degree exams.
The Degree/Diploma that has been completed through any of these is also acceptable - (i) 10 + 2 + 3/4/5-years pattern; (ii) 10 + 3 years Diploma +2/3 years pattern; or (i) 10 + 2 + AMIE with 2 years of experience or a 10 + 3 years diploma that has been awarded by the State Board of Technical Education + AMIE with 2 years of experience.
If you are appearing for the final semester/year of exam of the said qualifying degree course during the academic Year 2023-2024, then also you are eligible to apply for TANCET-2024. However, if you have obtained the qualifying Degree without studying 10th Std., 12th Std./3-year diploma, then you are not eligible to apply for TANCET-2024.

TANCET-2024 Format and Syllabus
Entrance Test for MBA admissions: The 2-hour test will have 5 sections- (i) A business situation will be given and you have to critically analyze how the data can be applied to taking an informative decision in that situation; (ii) Answer questions based on a given comprehension passage; (iii) Solve math problems of the type learned at the Graduate level including those learned at the +2 or equivalent level; (iv) Answer questions using given data that will gauge your knowledge of maths and use of daily facts; and (v) Answer questions to test your knowledge of written English, such as grammar, punctuation, etc.

Entrance Test for MCA admissions: The 2-hour test will have 4 sections- (i) Quantitative ability; (ii) Analytical ability; (iii) Logical reasoning; and (iv) Computer awareness. There may also be a couple of questions related to basic science, etc.

Scoring system: For both the MBA and MCA entrance tests, there are 100 questions with one mark awarded for a correct answer and 1/4th deducted for an incorrect answer. No marks will be deducted for an unanswered question.
Exam Fees
The exam fee for both the MBA and MCA TANCET, which has to be paid in online mode only, is as follows-
For SC/SCA/ST candidates of Tamil Nadu: Rs. 500/-.
For other candidates: Rs. 1000/-.TANCET-2024 Test Centres
The entrance test will be conducted at 15 centres in these cities- Bargur, Chennai, Coimbatore, Chidambaram, Dindigul, Erode, Karaikudi, Madurai, Nagercoil, Salem, Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, Tiruchirapalli, Vellore, and Villupuram.Hall Ticket for TANCET-2024
You have to download the Hall Ticket from the same website where you applied (https://tancet.annauniv.edu/tancet/), and bring it to the Test Centre as well as later when you attend the admission processes and counselling sessions.
In case you lose the Hall Ticket after the entrance test, you can apply with a written request for a duplicate one on payment of Rs. 300/- in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of "The Secretary, TANCET, Anna University" payable at Chennai, to The Secretary, ANCET, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025. Make sure that you mention the Registration number/Application number, as well as the name of the exam centre when putting in the request.After TANCET-2024 Result
Once the result of TANCET-2024 is declared, within 10 days you should download the Scorecard from the same website (https://tancet.annauniv.edu/tancet/). This Scorecard must be produced at the time of admission.
In case you have lost it, a duplicate scorecard can be obtained on payment of Rs. 300/- in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of "The Secretary, TANCET, Anna University" payable at Chennai, with a written request to The Secretary (TANCET), Anna University, Chennai – 600 025.
For any clarification, you can visit in person the Centre for Entrance Examinations at Anna University, Chennai – 25 on the 7th and 8th of March 2024.TANCET-2024 Registration and Application procedure
You have to register online only by filling up the online application form on the TANCET-2024 official registration portal.
The first step is to register with your name (this should be the same as it is on the Class 10 mark sheet, that is, SSLC or equivalent), date of birth, mobile number, email ID and password, and select the choice of exam (MBA or MCA).
The next step is to log in with the same email and password and fill in personal details, such as your address, State, gender, community, etc followed by educational qualifications and selection of the choice of subject and the test centre.
Then proceed to upload these-
(1) A good quality recently taken photo in jpg format with a file size of less than 50 KB (image height - 300px and width - 200px); and
(2) Your signature in jpg format with a file size of less than 11 KB (image height- 70px and width - 200px).
Note- Candidates seeking fee concession for TN - SC/SCA/ST should also upload the community certificate in PDF format.
Then confirm that you have filled in all the details correctly because you cannot change any data later after the final submission. If satisfied that all information has been correctly entered, click on the submit button, and proceed to make the payment of the exam fee.
Finally, download the completed application form for future reference. It is advisable to log in again after three days to check the approval status of the online registration.Important dates
Online registrations will begin on 10th January 2024, 10 a.m. onward.
The last date for online registrations is 7th February 2024.
TANCET-2024 exam dates: MCA: 9th March 2024 (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
