The Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes of Assam has recently announced the Assam OBC Scholarship Scheme. The scholarships are sponsored centrally for the students studying in schools and colleges. They are offering pre-matric and post-matric scholarships for the OBC students of Assam. The students receive an academic allowance annually and tuition fees up to Rs. 10, 000. The student should belong to the OBC caste only, and even SC/ST students are not considered. He or she should be an Indian citizen only.
In a family, only two boys of the same parent can avail of a scholarship. But if a parent has more than two daughters, all the daughters can apply for scholarships.
Students applying for pre-major scholarships should be studying in grades 9 –10. They should also show satisfactory progress in school or college academics and have good moral character.
For the candidates applying for the Pre-Matric (Class IX to X) (Competent-2) Scholarship, the income limit is not specified if the parent is involved in cleaning activities or any other activities related to resolving health hazards. Such students should get a certificate from the district social welfare office or any other office of the local body.Assam OBC Pre-Matric Scholarships Application Procedure
Students should visit the National Scholarship Portal official websiteto submit the online application form.
Scroll down until you find the option 'Applicant Corner' and the further option 'New Registration' below Login.
When you click, you are directed to a new webpage. You should read the guidelines and agree to the terms.
Then register your name by entering the required information and captcha. You are notified with an OTP on your mobile. Then you enter the OTP and hence a new username and password are generated.
Now you can enter your credentials to log in, and go to the option 'Fresh Application'.
Then enter the required information and upload the essential documents such as ID and address proof (Aadhar Card), birth certificate, caste certificate, domicile certificate, bank passbook, income certificate marksheets of previous classes, certificates from schools and colleges if applicable, etc. If the student does not have an Aadhar card certificate, then he or she should produce a bona fide certificate. The bona fide certificate is generated automatically by the system after applying for a scholarship at NSP.
The final step is to check the accuracy of the information you have submitted, and then use the 'Submit' button to apply.
Take a copy of the printout for future use. After taking a printout, visit your school to submit the printed copy along with the documents.Important dates
