The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) has released the notification for NCHM-JEE 2024 which is the common entrance test for students aspiring to get admission to the B.Sc. Course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration (B.Sc. HHA) for the academic session starting in 2024. The entrance test will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), and after clearing the test, students also need to fulfill the required eligibility requirements of the NCHMCT affiliating institute. Seats for reserved category candidates will be as per the Central Govt. norms, and In the case of the Institutes run/aided/recognized by State Governments, the reservation policy of the respective State Governments shall be applicable.

Brief overview of NCHM B.Sc. (HHA) course

The B.Sc. (Hospitality & Hotel Administration) program is a 3-year (6 semesters) course of the NCHMCT's affiliated Institutes recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. As per NEP 2020, there will be an option for the fourth year for the students to get an Honours Degree.

You will learn and develop skills in various aspects of the hospitality sector, food and beverage service, housekeeping, front office operations, etc as well as learn some management aspects such as those related to finance, HR, marketing, etc.



NCHM-JEE 2024 Eligibility requirements

Age criterion: There is no age restriction for appearing in NCHM-JEE 2024 as per the New Education Policy.

Educational Qualification: You should have passed the Class 12 (10+2) exam or its equivalent from a recognized Educational Board with English as one of the subjects, and also have passed English as a subject of study, either as a core subject or as an elective or a functional subject in the qualifying exam.

You can appear for NCHM-JEE 2024 if you have appeared for the Class 12 or equivalent exam this year, and will get provisional admission, but must submit the relevant supporting documents as proof of passing the Class 12 exam at the time of the counselling session or the latest by 30th September 2024.

The exams that are accepted as equivalent to the 10+2 exam are-
  1. The Plus two level exam in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education of any recognized Board

  2. The Intermediate or two-year Pre-University exam conducted by a recognized Board/ University

  3. The General Certificate Education (GCE) exam (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level

  4. The High School Certificate exam of the Cambridge University

  5. Any Public School/Board/University exam in India or in a foreign country that is recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE)/Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as equivalent to the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary Education

  6. The Senior Secondary School exam conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) as well as the State Board of Open Schooling with a minimum of subjects including English as one of the subjects

  7. A vocational exam approved by NCVT and SCVT of concerned State/UT.

Physical fitness: You will be required to submit a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed format.

NCHM-JEE 2024 Application procedure

Download the information bulletin and read it fully and properly to ensure your eligibility and understand the instructions for the online application procedure. The first step is to register online using your own email ID and mobile number at https://nchm.ntaonline.in/

Then fill in the online application Form and upload the relevant documents (scan and keep them ready in advance). Do not submit more than one application. The documents required to be uploaded are-
  1. A valid Government ID proof

  2. A scanned clear passport photo in JPG format between 10 kb–200kb in size. The photo should be either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible, including ears against a white background. Know why the visibility of ears is important in the photo!

  3. Scanned clear signature in JPG format between 4kb–30kb size.

Also, scan and keep ready Govt. ID details, such as the Aadhaar Number (last 4 digits)/Election Card (EPIC no.)/Passport number/Ration Card Number/Bank Account Number/PAN Number/other valid Govt. IDs, and Educational/Qualification details so that you can enter the information in the online application process.

Finally, pay the application fee through Net Banking or using a Credit card/Debit Card (except Master/Visa Card) /Paytm/UPI /Wallet and keep proof of fee paid. The application fee is as follows-
  • For General/OBC-(NCL) category: Rs. 1000/-

  • ForGeneral-EWS category: Rs. 700/-

  • For SC/ST/PwD category: Rs. 450/-

  • For Third Gender category: Rs. 450/-

Important notes: The date of birth that you enter in the online application form should be exactly as mentioned in the Class X Board Certificate, and ensure that you select 4 cities of your choice from the list of 109 that have been provided for the exam center when filling in the online application form.

The confirmation page of the online application form will be generated only after successful payment. You should download the confirmation page and take a printout of the same may be retained for future reference (take at least four printouts). Note down the application number that is given on the confirmation page, as this will need to be mentioned in all future communications.



NCHM-JEE 2024 Exam Format for B.Sc. (HHA)

NCHM-JEE 2024 for the B.Sc. (HHA) courses is a Computer Based Test (CBT) of 200 marks of three hours. You will be answering Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in English/Hindi medium. A correct answer will be awarded 4 marks, an unanswered question will be given zero, and an incorrect answer will carry a negative marking of -1.

The NCHM-JEE 2024 questions will include the following-
  1. Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude: 30 marks.

  2. Reasoning and Logical Deduction: 30 marks.

  3. General Knowledge and Current Affairs: 30 marks.

  4. English Language: 60 marks.

  5. Aptitude for the Service Sector: 50 marks.

At the exam centre

You need to bring the following with you to the exam centre-
  1. The Admit Card along with the Self Declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website (this should be a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in.

  2. An additional photo, to be pasted on the attendance sheet. This must be the same as the one that you uploaded for the online application form

  3. Any one authorized Govt. photo IDs (must be original & valid), namely, the School Identity Card/PAN card/Driving License/Voter ID/Passport/Aadhar Card (with photo)/Aadhaar Enrolment number/Ration Card

  4. The PwD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming relaxation/facility under the PwD category
  5. A simple transparent ballpoint pen

While you are not allowed to take any bags into the centre, you can carry a personal transparent water bottle, as well as medication and fruits if you are a diabetic.

Important dates

The closing date for registration and submission of the application form for NCHM-JEE 2024 is 31st March 2024, up to 5 p.m.
The last date to pay the online fee or NCHM-JEE 2024 is 31st March 2024, up to 5 p.m.
Corrections in the particulars of the application form can be done online from 2nd April to 4th April 2024.
Admit Card for NCHM-JEE 2024 can be downloaded from the official website on the dates to be announced later.
NCHM-JEE 2024 is scheduled to be conducted on 11th May 2024.
The dates of the results of NCHM-JEE 2024 and the display of the provisional answer key will be announced later.

After the result

Verification of original certificates/documents, including category certificate and PwD certificate, as applicable, will be done at the time of admission to the institute for the B.Sc. (HHA) course.
