Vellore Institute of Technology-AP Amaravati Ph.D. admission procedure
Vellore Institute of Technology is a well-known institute that provides quality education to students of various levels and streams. Its AP Campus, Amaravati announced admissions for PhD for July 2024. The details on admission into this course in VIT-AP are presented in this write-up.
Introduction
Vellore Institute of Technology is a very well-known university in the Private sector. This university has obtained 8th rank as a university, 11th rank as the best in research, and 11th rank as the best in engineering in NIRF rankings. This institute is having 4 campuses namely Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Amravati (AP). The VIT AP has announced its schedule for admissions to PhD in its campus for the July 2024 session.
VIT-AP offers research programmes in engineering, basic sciences, humanities and management disciplines. Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Management – HR, Marketing, Economics, Law, English etc. It is an internal full-time course. Candidates who are interested in working for a Ph.D. / Integrated Ph.D. degree on a full-time basis should only apply in the prescribed form on or before the specified date.Eligibility criteria
Only those students who studied previous UG and PG programmes in regular full-time mode should apply for PhD admission in the relevant subject. The eligibility criteria for various streams are as follows-For PhD in Engineering
PG degree in Engineering/ Technology in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks in all the years/ Semesters or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale. Graduates in Engineering with outstanding academic records can apply for direct PhD. A minimum of 75% marks or a CGPA of 7.5 on a 10-point scale is mandatory to apply for a direct PhD. For PhD in Sciences
A PG degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 60% or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale is a must for applying. For PhD in Languages
Students who passed PG in Social Sciences and Languages and obtained a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale can apply.For PhD in Management
Students who cleared MBA/CA/ICWA/MA Economics/M Com /M Tech with a minimum of 60% marks or 6,5 CGPA on a 10-point scale can apply for this.For PhD in Law
A candidate who passed PG in law from any recognised University/ Institute with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale can apply for this.Selection Procedure
Selection for PhD/ Direct PhD admissions will be carried out based on the performance of the candidate in the entrance test that will be conducted by the institute (VITREE – July 2024), marks obtained in the qualifying examination and personal interview. VITREE – July 2024 is a Computer Based test(CBT). The duration is 2 hours. The total marks of the paper are 100 and the test will be conducted tentatively on 5th May 2024 in select centres. There will be 70 questions related to the subject and 15 questions on English and communication skills. There will be 15 questions on statistics and probability. For a direct PhD, 80 questions are related to the subject and 20 questions are from English and communication skills. All questions are multiple choice questions and each question will carry one mark. The selected candidates in the test will be asked to attend a personal interview. The fee structure
The tuition fee is Rs.40,000/- per year. Rs,3000/- is the caution deposit. A thesis fee of Rs.10,000- /is also to be paid at the time of joining. The application fee is Rs.1200/- Important Dates

The students are advised to study the guidelines given on the website of the institute before they fill up the application. The students should apply online only and the applications are available on VIT-AP Portal.
