The School of Management Sciences (SOMS) of the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, West Bengal has issued the admission notification for MBA for the academic year 2024-26. Candidates of all nationalities are welcome to apply for the MBA program for which there are a total of 60 seats, with seats for the reserved categories as per Central Govt. norms. IIEST, Shibpur was earlier the Bengal Engineering College, and today, in addition to offering courses in the fields of engineering, science, architecture, humanities, and social science courses, also offers an MBA program. The IIEST campus has a central computer centre and library. Other campus facilities include a medical unit, hostel accommodation, sports facilities, etc. As an Institute of National Importance (INI) which is a Central Govt. Funded Technical Institute (CFTI), IIEST offers financial assistance through scholarships. The SOMS is located in the Acharya S N Bose Building on the IIEST campus with its own independent computer lab.
Features of IIEST Shibpur MBA program
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management Sciences is a full-time postgraduate 2-year theory-cum-practical course (four semesters). It covers the gamut of management, such as HR, marketing, business communication, operations management, entrepreneurship, logistics, finance, etc. There are department Electives as well as open Electives, and a Viva-Voce at the end of the third and fourth semesters.
Learning at IIEST Shibpur, though, goes beyond acquiring academic knowledge about various aspects of management. You will benefit through the development of social skills and leadership abilities, hone language fluency, and acquire an interest in entrepreneurship. Through in-depth case studies, project work, and participating in simulation games, as well as taking up a mandatory internship (minimum 45 days) and attending seminars, you will develop analytical skills, and get hands-on insight and experience in making strategic decisions.
Once you complete the MBA course, the Placement Cell of SOMS will guide you in preparing for interviews and coordinate with industry contacts to offer employment opportunities. Academic Qualifications: You should have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Humanities, Arts, Commerce, or Business Administration with a minimum of 60% marks (CGPA = 6.5 on 10 point or equivalent) if applying in the for UR/OBC (NCL)/EWS category. A minimum of 55% marks (CGPA = 6.0 on a 10-point scale) is the requirement for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
Aptitude Test Score: You should have a valid MAT/CMAT/CAT/XAT/GMAT score.
Note: Provisional admission will be given if you are eligible for admission but are awaiting results, and also if you are migrating from another University/Institute. However, you must submit the result of the qualifying degree exam and the migration certificate (as applicable) by 30the September 2024 (this date may be changed), otherwise, your admission may be cancelled.IIEST Shibpur MBA Fees

You need to upload a digital photo and signature in image format, and in the online application form, you must write within 100 words why you wish to pursue an MBA and particularly why in IIEST, Shibpur.
You need to download a pdf copy of the MBA admission form from the IIEST Shibpur website website under the 'MBA Admission' section. Fill up the form and upload a copy of the completed form while submitting the online application. The original copy of this application form must be submitted if you are selected for admission.
Application fee: You have to pay an application fee of Rs.1500/- if you are applying in the UR/OBC(NCL)/EWS category, and Rs.1000/- if you are applying in the SC/ST/PWD category.
The application fee has to be made in the Institute's Bank account only (refer to the official brochure to know the bank account details), and the scanned copy/pdf copy of the receipt must be uploaded when you submit the online application.Important dates

Important note: If you are selected to appear for the online interview, you will be required to produce all original mark sheets and certificates including those for the qualifying degree (refer to the brochure for details) on the date of the interview.
