Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) is a private Deemed to be University having four campuses. Two campuses are in Visakhapatnam, AP, and one each in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Admission to this university will be carried out based on the performance of the candidate in the GITAM admission test (GAT). The details about this exam are presented in this article. Introduction
The Gandhian Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) is deemed to be a University in the private sector. It was founded in Visakhapatnam, a coastal city in Andhra Pradesh in 1980. This institute was started as an Engineering college and affiliated with Andhra University But UGC has granted a deemed-to-be university status to this in the year 2007. The UGC has recognised this institute as a research university. India's Ministry of Human Resource Development and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council rated this institute as A+ The university is having 4 campuses as of now. The main university is in Rushikonda of Visakhapatnam. Another campus is in Hyderabad. The third campus is in Bangalore. The fourth one is GIMSR which is for courses related to health care. The curriculum is designed as a blend of theory, practicals, and the needs of the market. Many of the faculty members are very experienced.
Admissions to this university are carried out through its online entry test,the GITAM Admission test (GAT). This test is considered one of the most competitive tests in southern India. All the students who are seeking admission to various UG and PG courses offered by GITAM should attend this. This is a computer-based test. The same will be conducted in various states of India and also as an online proctored test for some courses. This is a common test for admission to all GITAM campuses at Vishakapatnam, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and GIMSR. The duration of the test will vary between 1 and 2 hours hours depending on the course for which admission is sought. All questions will be MCQs only. Each question will have four options and the candidate has to choose the correct answer. There is no negative marking for this. Students having scored in JEE Mains, TS EAMCET or AP EAMCET are exempted from appearing in this test. GITAM results will be announced online and qualified persons have to attend the counselling at the GITAM campus.

Application Procedure
The following are the steps involved in applying for this examination.
Registration: Visit the official website of https://apply.gitam.edu, GITAM to access the applicants' portal. Then click on the "Register" button. The registration page will open. Fill in the details asked for.
Education details: Fill in education details. These details will include the name of the school in which the student studied, current field of study, the campus for which the candidate is applying etc. After filling in all the details click on the Save button and then click on the next button.
Selection of course: The candidate has to select the eligible courses for which the application is being made. Once the candidate clicks on a course, the eligibility criteria will be displayed. Once the candidate is suitable he/she can click on Add course.
Personal details: The candidate has to fill in the details like First name, Last name, Gender, Date of birth, Aadhar no., Mother tongue, etc. The candidate has to scan and upload a passport-size photo in JPEG/JPG format. The dimensions of the photo should not be larger than 35 mm X 45 mm. The file size should not be larger than1 MB

Test Centres: Go through the list of centres given and select the suitable one
Review the so far filled application and then proceed for payment of fees. The application fee is Rs,1200/- and it is non-refundable. Please note that one candidate can apply for as many courses as he wants with a single application. The application fee will be Rs.1200/ only irrespective of the number of subjects selected from the same group. But if the candidate selects subjects from different groups, the application form will be one only but the application fee will be Rs.1200/- per group. If a candidate applies for subjects from 2 groups the application fee will be Rs,2400/-.
Once the fee is paid the site will direct to the Application Print page. A copy of the application form can be printed and kept for future reference.

Eligibility criteria
The eligibility criteria for various courses are as follows.
UG: 10 +2 is the qualifying examination. The minimum percentage is 60%. But for students who studied in CBSE or ICSE 55% is the minimum percentage. Diploma candidates who obtained a minimum of 60% can apply for lateral entry into 2nd year B Tech. The subjects should be Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Botany in 10 +2.
PG Courses: Graduates in the concerned subject from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible to apply.
