The National School of Drama (NSD) has released an admission notification for their short-term Theatre Appreciation Course scheduled to begin at the end of this month at the NSD campus in New Delhi. Outstation candidates are also welcome to apply for admission to the course. At the outset it should be noted that once enrolled in the course, you must attend it regularly in person at the NSC campus as per the schedule and if you have irregular attendance, then you will not be allowed to continue in the course.

The National School of Drama (NSD) was set up as a constituent unit of the Sangeet Natak Akademi and is now an autonomous institute under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Globally renowned as a theatre training institution, like all its other courses, the theatre appreciation one will also be an intense and in-depth training course. On successfully completing the course, you will receive a Certificate of Participation from NSD.
Course Features
Duration: From 30th March 2024 to 6th April 2024.
Timings: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the course.
Number of seats: Maximum 50.
What you will learn-
Through discussions related to the various aspects of theatre-making and theatre-watching, such as a critical analysis of theatre scripts and reviewing plays, you will get a unique perspective of theatre. However, the course overall is primarily theoretical with no practical sessions related to theatre direction or acting. What is included is as follows-Eligibility requirements
Only those who have not attended the theatre appreciation course earlier are eligible to apply. Other eligibility criteria are as follows-
Nationality: You must be an Indian national and be living in India to apply for this course.
Age criterion: You must be above 18 years of age.
Language skills: It is essential to have a working knowledge of Hindi and/or English.How to apply
You have to submit the application form online at the National School of Drama official website (you will see the heading of the notification to apply on the home screen) and pay the application fee of Rs. 100/- online.
A quick heads-up: In the application form, you will have to state within about 50 words how the course will be beneficial to you in your current pursuits. You also need to mention three recently watched plays (the play's name, director, etc should be included) and your views on them in about 150 words. You should provide clear details about your work or studentship as applicable. It is a good idea, too, to mention in the part on details of academic qualifications those that are related to theatre or any other arts.
Candidates who have been selected will be informed by phone and email a few days before the start date of the theatre appreciation course.

The last date to submit the application form is 15th March 2024, up to 11.59 p.m.
The list of candidates who have been selected by members of the NSD Selection Committee will be displayed on the NSD website by 21st March 2024.

On selection, you are required to pay the registration fee of Rs. 5000/- in online mode, otherwise your seat will be offered to another candidate whose name is on the waiting list.
The course will begin on 30th March 2024. You will neither get hostel accommodation on campus nor any other type of accommodation nor will you get any TA/DA. You will need to make your own arrangements for boarding and lodging. Contact information
