CUET UG 2024-NTA registrations open to apply online for UG admissions

Overview

The National Testing Agency was instituted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India as an autonomous organization and conducts entrance examinations such as NEET, JEE, NIFT, JOINT CSIR, UGC-NET, etc., for admissions into UG/PG/Fellowship programs in every field of higher education. The CUET UG program has been administered by the NTA to improve quality and equity in education based on transparent, fair, and global-level assessment. Various central universities of the Government of India, state universities, and other private/autonomous institutions participate in this assessment testing to provide admissions to the right candidates. To impart equal and efficient higher education all over India, the NTA conducts the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admissions to undergraduate programs such as B. Sc, B.A., B. Com, BBA, Biotechnology, etc., in premier educational institutions/universities every year. CUET UG enables the students as a single window test seeking admission in the Universities governed by the Ministry of Education, State Universities, and Deemed/private institutions.

With the release of the notification about the CUET UG 2024 by the NTA official website, the registration process has started for online mode applications to appear for the entrance test.

CUET UG Salient Features

  • Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) is a single window system to support students seeking admission into UG programs in various central universities and other participating state universities, private, and deemed universities.
  • The test will be conducted in a computer-based test (CBT) and a traditional pen-and-paper mode with three slots (shifts) to help the students from rural areas as per the notification by the NTA. The pattern of the test is MCQ objective type.
  • The list of participating universities and the updates regarding the test will be available on the website.
  • Information regarding the programs offered by the central universities/state/other participating private or deemed universities and the eligibility requirements will be accessible on the official website.
  • The NTA conducts the test in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
  • The syllabus of the CUET consists of a Language, a General Test, and at least four domain subjects of the student's choice. There are 61 subjects altogether including 33 languages, 27 domain-specific subjects, and 01 General Test. The applicant must choose a maximum of six test papers to include one language, one General Test paper, and four domain subjects compulsorily as per his/her preference/the institution that he/she prefers. The candidate needs to answer 40 questions out of 50 for all test papers of language and domain subjects and 50 questions out of 60 for the General Test paper.

Key Dates

Submission of online application form: From February 27 to March 26, 2024 (till 11:50 pm)
Last date for payment of fees: March 26, 2024 (till 11:50 pm)
Correction of particulars: From 28 March to 29 March 2024 (till 11:50 pm)
Examination center/city notification: 30 April 2024 onwards
Downloading admit cards: The second week of May 2024 (Date is subject to change according to the National Election Schedule)
Date of Examination: Between 15 May and 31 May 2024 with timing and duration to be published on a later date (Date is subject to change according to the National Election Schedule)
Display of recorded responses and answer keys: To be published on the website as per the schedule of the NTA.
Declaration of the Result: 30 June 2024 (Date is subject to change according to the National Election Schedule).

Eligibility

Age: There is no age limit in general for the applicants. Nevertheless, they are required to fulfill the age criteria as per the rules of the institution to which they seek admission.

Education: The applicants should have cleared the class XII board examinations or must appear in 2024 conducted by any of the following boards.
  • Recognized central board or state board
  • Intermediate or two-year pre-university
  • Senior secondary school examination by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five domain subjects
  • Final examination by the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational examination
  • Diploma course of three-year duration recognized by the AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education
  • Any Public School/Board examination in India or foreign country equivalent to class XII by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) Level
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

Application Fees
For General Category (Unreserved) up to three subjects: INR 1000 and 400 for each additional subject
For Other Backward Classes (OBC)-Non-Creamy Layer (NCL)/Economically Weaker Section (EWS) up to three subjects: INR 900 and 375 for each additional subject
For SC/ST/PwBD(Person with Benchmark Disability)/Third Gender up to three subjects: INR 800 and 350 for each additional subject.
For Foreign applicants up to three subjects: INR 4500 and 1800 for each additional subject.

Registration and Application Process


Before filling application form, it is suggested that the candidates should read the instructions given in the Information Bulletin of the NTA CUET UG Portal.
  • The candidate is required to register for the application form online and will be allotted a system-generated application number by submitting the email address and mobile number. She/he needs to create a password choosing a security question and answer. With the generated application number and created password, the candidate may log in to complete the application form and this will be required for future correspondence for admission to UG programs.
  • Provided with the application number and password, the candidate can fill up the personal details, educational qualifications, choice of university, program, test papers, and centers of examination/cities.
  • The applicant must upload scanned copies of his/her photographs, signature, and PwD certificate if applicable. The photographs should have been taken recently and either in black and white or in color. The face should be 80% visibility including the ears and with a white background. The size of the scanned image of the photograph must be visible clearly between 10-200 kb. The size of the scanned signature should be legible clearly between 04-30 kb.
  • Upon completing the registration and application procedure, the fees should be paid online through credit card/debit card/UPI/net banking. After the successful payment of fees, the confirmation page will be generated and the candidate is required to download, save, and print to keep a copy of the confirmation page for future reference.
