Delhi Government School Admissions 2024-2025


In this article, I am explaining the admission procedure of Delhi Government Schools for the year 2024-2025 from classes 6 to 9. I am explaining various aspects such as eligibility criteria, age limit, admission procedure, application fee etc. Students should currently apply for Cycle I.

The Delhi Directorate of Education has recently announced the admission procedure in different government schools in Delhi from classes 6 to 9 for cycle I. Students who are seeking admission to government schools can visit the official website of the DoE to apply for Cycle I. The DoE has released guidelines for admission to government schools through the Plan Admission scheme. So, under this scheme, students currently studying in municipal schools, government-aided schools, or private schools can apply to a school situated near their homes.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Criteria

For class 6, you should be above 10 but less than 12 years old.
For Class 7, you should be above 11 but not more than 13 years old.
For Class 8, you should be above 12 but not more than 14 years old.
For Class 9, you should be above 13 but not more than 15 years old.

Other requirements

The student should be a resident of Delhi and currently studying at a school situated in Delhi.

How to apply for Delhi government schools in 2024-2025

Visit the official site of the DoE

On the extreme left side of the webpage, you can find a link just below the image "Govt. School Admission.". Click the option, and you are directed to a new webpage where you can further find links.

Choose the option "Online Admission Form," and a new webpage, "Registration for Session 2024-2025, is opened".

Enter the details required for registration, such as name, class, address, Aadhar card number . of the applicant, name of the bank, contact number., etc. Then choose "Next" to proceed further.

Your login details are sent to your mobile number. Login to your account and then upload the required documents, such as the Aadhar card, UID card, bank pass book, birth certificate, school certificate of the previous school, mobile number of the parent, etc.

Submit the application form and save a copy of the printout for further reference.

Parents can register online using a smartphone, and they can clarify their doubts at the Help Desk at the nearest school.

Three cycles of admission

The process of admission is categorised into three distinct stages, namely Cycle I, Cycle II, and Cycle III. Cycle I is meant for fresh candidates only. Students who are already studying in government or government-aided schools should visit the school for transfer.

Date of commencement of application for Cycle I: April 8, 2024
Last date of application for Delhi Government school admission for Cycle I: April 17, 2024, up to 5.00 p.m.
Display of the schools allocated and selection of schools for Cycle I: 29th April 2024
Date for submission of documents/verification of documents for Cycle I: 30th April 2024 to 10th May 2024
Dates for Admissions Cycle II: May 15, 2024, to June 15, 2024
Dates for admission in Cycle III: July 10, 2024, to July 31, 2024
