The Chief Coordinator, National Entrance Screening Test 2024 (NEST-2024) invites applications from students who wish to get admission to the Integrated M.Sc. program at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and the University of Mumbai - Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. In addition to the eligibility requirements for these institutes, you must appear for NEST-2024, which is scheduled to be conducted in 129 centres across India in June this year.

Both NISER and UM-DAE CEBS are under the aegis of the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India. Their campuses have hostel facilities, computer centres, libraries, sports infrastructure, etc. Both institutes have a wonderful learning environment with highly qualified faculty, and they encourage research. On completing the program at either of the institutes with high grades, you may get the opportunity to appear for interviews for admission to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) training school.
Integrated M.Sc. Program Highlights
The Course and Degree: The Integrated M.Sc. program in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences is of 5 years duration of the academic session 2024-29. Along with the major subject, you can pursue a minor in Biology, Chemistry, Computer science, Mathematics or Physics.
The degree at NISER, Bhubaneswar will be awarded by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed-to-be University, within the Dept. of Atomic Energy. The degree at CEBS will be awarded by the University of Mumbai.

Benefits: On getting admission to the Integrated M.Sc. program at NISER or CEBS, you are eligible to receive an annual scholarship of Rs. 60,000/- through the DISHA program of the Dept. of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India and receive a grant of Rs. 20,000/- per annum for the summer internship.
Number of seats: For the academic year 2024, there are 200 seats at NISER and 57 seats at CEBS. This includes seats reserved for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Divyangjan candidates as per the norms of the Govt. of India, and two supernumerary seats reserved for eligible candidates from J&K and Ladakh. Although there is no age limit to appear in the NEST-2024 exam and admission to either of the institutes for the course, it is mandatory to meet all the eligibility criteria for admission to the Integrated M.Sc. program of NISER/CEBS in 2024 as follows-
Educational Qualification: You must clear the Class 12 exam or its equivalent in the science stream from any recognized Board in India in 2022 or 2023. If you are appearing for the Class 12 exam or its equivalent in 2024, then also you can apply and are required to pass it by the time of admission to the course.
Qualifying Exam Marks: You should score a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in the Class 12 exam. In the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and Divyangjan candidates, the minimum marks should be 55% in aggregate or equivalent grade.
Entrance Test: It is mandatory to appear for NEST-2024 and get a position in the Merit List. NEST-2024 Format
NEST-2024 is a Computer-Based Test (CBT). The syllabus for NEST 2024 follows the NCERT syllabus of Class 11-12 of the science subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Maths (refer- https://ncert.nic.in/syllabus.php).
There will be four sections with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with subject-specific questions from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Maths. The question paper will be in English and Hindi medium. Each section carries 60 marks with 20 questions, with three marks for a correct answer, and -1 for an incorrect answer. No marks will be deducted for not answering a question. The scores out of 180 marks will be considered for preparing the Merit List.
Timings: The test will be conducted in two sessions, with the first session from 9 a.m. to 12.30 noon, and the second from 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. You will be assigned to any of these sessions.
It is suggested to use the facility of the CBT practice tests which will be available after you have registered and completed the online application process.At the Exam Center
You must reach the venue of the test centre at least 90 minutes before the start of the session so that you are not late, because you will not be allowed inside the exam hall 30 minutes after the exam begins, which is 9.30 a.m. for the first session, and 3 p.m. for the second session. You must bring your Admit Card and a valid photo ID card to the centre, without which you will not be allowed to enter. You have to bring your own blue or black pen, and blank pages for rough work will be provided. You will also be allowed to use an on-screen calculator, but cannot take in calculators, electronic gadgets, and other materials. How to apply

As per the instructions in the official information brochure, scan the following and keep them ready for uploading-
The first step is to register with a valid email ID and mobile phone number at the official website. Next, log in with the credentials you received by email, fill in the online application form, upload the relevant documents, and make the online payment of the application fee.
NEST-2024 Application Fee: Female applicants and those applying in the SC/ST/Divyangjan category have to pay an application fee of Rs.700/-. All other applicants in the General/OBC category have to pay an application fee of Rs. 1400/-. This payment should be made online with either a credit card or a debit card or through Net Banking or UPI.
Good to know: If you are appearing for the Class 12 exam this year, then select the year of passing as 2024 (results awaited). In this case, you do not need to fill in the box 'Percentage of Marks'. Secondly, you can select three preferences of cities/towns for the exam centre (although you may not get the centre of your choice and will need to appear for NEST-2024 at the venue of the test centre printed on your Hall ticket).

The online application has already started, and the last date to submit applications is 31st May 2024 (you can submit applications up to midnight).
The dates for when you can make corrections if required and get access to the mock test have not yet been announced.
The Admit Card for NEST-2024 can be downloaded from the official website from 15th June 2024.
The date of NEST-2024 is 30th June 2024.
The result of NEST-2024 will be declared on 10th July 2024.
Additional notes: You do not need to provide certificates in support of eligibility criteria for appearing in the NEST 2024. However, you must produce the necessary certificates supporting eligibility criteria at the time of admission, and admission will be offered only on verification of all the original certificates at the time of admission/counselling. Those applying in the reserved categories must produce the relevant valid certificate on the date of admission.Contact information
