The Indian Institute of Ahmedabad (IIMA) offers a two-year online MBA program in blended learning mode, that is, live online sessions and on-campus classes. The program launched earlier this year is for the academic session 2024-26 and will begin in September 2024. On completing the program, you will receive a Master of Business Administration degree and will get IIMA alumni status.

Important to know before you apply: Since the fee for the IIMA online MBA program is steep, you are advised to do due diligence and think carefully about whether or not it is worth pursuing it. While doing so, consider a few points- Firstly, there is no active placement support for the online MBA program. The institute states that it created campaigns about the program during its launch earlier this year so that potential corporate employers would be aware of it. Secondly, it is mandatory to attend the on-campus classes so you should apply only if you can attend the academic sessions at IIMA. Thirdly, IIMA does not offer any type of scholarship for the online MBA program. Finally, think about the value of the program - will it help create potential job opportunities, enable you to push for higher pay in your current job or enhance your career goals?
IIMA Online MBA Highlights
Overview
The hybrid model of the postgraduate online MBA program offers a flexible learning method to equip yourself with managerial skills that will enhance your professional competence and, perhaps, propel you towards career goals. You will be able to confidently deal with business and management issues by learning how to apply concepts to actual scenarios, whether it is related to the business of a company where you are working or in a self-entrepreneurial venture. The program is for two years with 900 hours of classroom sessions and project work, with live online sessions of 75 minutes each delivered through a dedicated technology platform. You have the flexibility of completing the program in three years. However, if you require an extension, you need to put in a formal application for it which will be reviewed by the members of the program's Executive Committee.
Reservation of seats: As per the norms of the Govt. of India, 27% of the seats are reserved for NC-OBC, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST candidates, 10% for EWS candidates, and 5% for PwD candidates.
What you will learn: During the first year, you will get an understanding about economic and regulatory aspects, learn analytical tools and techniques, acquire general management skills and develop leadership abilities. In the second year, you can choose electives as per your field of interest. The options include HR, Marketing, Finance, Information Systems and Digital Technologies, etc. In addition to case studies and project work, the online MBA program is enlivened with simulations and interesting learning activities with your peers.
Eligibility for the MBA Degree: To get the MBA degree, you must complete 36 credits of course, including two credits of project course. The breakup of credits is as follows: 16 credits for Core Courses, 2 credits for Projects, and 18 credits for Elective Courses.
Just as it is for other programs of IIMA, you need to get the minimum cumulative grade point average. For the project, you have to demonstrate how to apply what you learn in the first year to case scenarios involving managerial decisions.
The Schedule: The online sessions will be conducted as follows-
On campus- The campus session will be for one week in each term.
Campus access: You will be permitted to avail of all facilities of IIMA, including access to the online and campus library, sports facilities, access to the alumni office, etc. You will also be allowed to contact and meet faculty and administrative staff.
IIMA Online MBA Fees
Application Fee (not refundable): The application fee is Rs. 2000/- for those with CAT/GMAT/GRE scores, and Rs. 3000/- for those who are appearing for IAT.
Online MBA Program Fee: The online MBA program fee is Rs. 20,00,000/-. This fee does not include the cost of travel and accommodation for the campus study modules.

Age criterion: The minimum acceptable age is 24 years as of 30th June 2024, that is, born on or before 30th June 2000. There is no upper age limit.
Academic Qualifications: You should have a Bachelor's degree or CA/CS/ICWA or equivalent in any discipline. The qualification should have been acquired through a minimum of 15 years of study as per the education system in India, that is, 10 + 2 + 3 or 10 + 2 + 4 as applicable. You should have obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate or an equivalent CGPA, awarded by any of the recognized universities.
Experience: You should be a working professional or an entrepreneur with a minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience after completing graduation, as of 30th June 2024. Note that you do not need to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your current employer.
In addition to fulfilling the above-mentioned admission criteria, the following will be considered when shortlisting candidates for admission to the online MBA program-
An Online IIMA Admission Test (IAT) which has been designed specifically for this online MBA program, or a valid CAT score of a CAT taken within the last five years from 1st May 2024 or a valid GMAT/GRE score of a GMAT/GRE taken within the last 5 years from 1st May 2024 (the new GMAT Focus Edition exam score will also be accepted).
A personal interview will be conducted for the final selection from the shortlisted candidates.About IIMA Admission Test (IAT)
The IIMA Admission Test is a management aptitude test required for those who do not have scores obtained through CAT, GMAT, or GRE. You can register for IAT at the official website.

IAT schedule-
The IAT Admit Card will be available for download on the official website on 14th May 2024.
The IAT is scheduled for 19th and 26th May 2024.
The list of shortlisted candidates will be displayed on the official website on 29th May 2024.
Interview schedule-
Interviews for candidates having CAT/GMAT/GRE scores will be conducted on 1st and 2nd June 2024.
Interviews for candidates appearing for the IAT will be conducted on the 8th and 9th of June 2024.
Final selection and fee payment schedule-
The final selection with letters of offer for admission and the wait list will be put up on 12th June 2024.
The Commitment Fee (this is not refundable) should be paid by 28th June 2024.
The first installment of the program fee should be paid on 15th July 2024 (refer to the Table given earlier in this article for the schedule of the remaining installments).
Program schedule-
