About GITAM
Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) is a private institute established in 1980. It is a deemed-to-be-university accredited by NAAC with Grade 'A +' and approved by AICTE. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs in various disciplines. Currently the institute has invited applications for admission to on-campus Ph.D. degree programs at the Visakhapatnam campus. Research areas
The GITAM is offering Ph.D. courses in the following research areas:Financial support Eligible candidates will get an emolument per month for the full-time program. Fellowship will be extended for the subsequent years based on the progress of work. There are two categories of research fellowship:-
Category-I: Murthi Excellence Research Fellowship
Category-II: GITAM Junior Research Fellowship:
This Research Fellowship is available for full-time research scholars. MURTI Excellence Research Fellowships Rs 40,000/-and Gitam Junior Fellowships Rs 25,000/- per month will be provided to Ph.D. full-time scholars for three years for meritorious candidates. Eligibility criteria
There are two categories for PhD candidates which are as follows:-
a) Full-Time: Regular on-campus PhD programme for Indians, foreign/ NRI candidates
b) Extramural: The PhD programme for those candidates working in institutions recognized by GITAM.
Candidates who are interested in the Ph.D. program can pursue research under full-time or category Extramural categories, subject to the eligibility criteria specified below-
Educational Qualification-
a) Candidate should have a one-year/two-semester master's degree program after a 4-year/8- semester bachelor's degree program Or a 2-year/4-semester master's degree program after a 3-year bachelor's degree program Of qualifications declared equivalent to the master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
OR
b) Other equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized, or authorized by an authority, established, or incorporated under a law in its home country or any University)
other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit, or assure quality and
standards of the educational institution.
OR
c) A candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree program should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
OR
d) Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. program with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed OR equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, may apply for the Ph.D. program. The candidates who want to join the Ph.D. degree program at GITAM must visit the official website of GITAM and read the instructions carefully before applying online. To apply online the candidate must submit their application through the online application portal.
For registration, candidates need to provide their full name, date of birth, email address, and mobile number. After registration, the candidate must log in using login credentials to fill out the online application form. Application forms can be filled out online by login using login credentials. The candidate must pay the non-refundable application fee through a Debit card/Credit card (Master/VISA)/Net Banking/UPI.Applications Fee

Selection procedure
Admission of the candidates to the Ph.D. programs will be based on their performance in the online written test conducted by the university. The candidate who qualifies written test will be called for an interview. The final selection of the candidates will be based on academic credentials, written tests, and/or interviews. The application will be screened and only selected applicants will be called for a written test and an interview.Coursework
Coursework is mandatory for candidates who want to pursue a Ph.D. program. However, candidates having an M.Phil. degree are exempted from coursework. Candidates are required to put in a minimum of 75% attendance per course to be eligible to appear for the examinations. The coursework includes the following Courses :
Course: I Research Methodology
Course: II Advanced Topics in the Area of Research
Course: III Comprehensive Viva-voce
Course: IV Research and Publications
Courses I and II shall have 40 contact hours each and course IV shall have 30 contact hours. Classes for Courses – I & IV shall be arranged by the Institute, and that of Course - II by the concerned Research Supervisor.
Candidates have to qualify for the prescribed courses within 12 months from the date of registration, and secure at least a "Pass (P)" grade in each course to be declared to have completed the course work.
Unsuccessful candidates shall be provided only two more chances to complete the coursework. If candidates cannot complete the course work then may go for re-registration for the Ph.D. program.Important dates

GITAM is one of the first-generation private deemed to be universities in Andhra Pradesh. Initially, it was started as an Engineering college by one of the very famous philanthropists from Vishakapatnam. It was started in Visakhapatnam, the port city of Andhra Pradesh. Many retired eminent professors from Andhra University extended their support by rendering their services in academics and saw the progress of the college.
