About Institute
Institute of Petrochemicals Technology (IPT) – Chennai is one of the high learning centres of the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), a premier national institution under the aegis of the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India. It was established in 1968 under the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India. It aims to provide higher education to build a career in the field of Engineering. It is approved by the reputed AICTE and is affiliated with Anna University, Chennai. It offers various programs like Diploma, Post Diploma, and Postgraduate courses at different centres in India. CIPET:IPT is a full-time two-year Post Graduate Degree program affiliated with the University of Madras. Currently, It is inviting applications for admission into the postgraduate M.Sc programme in Applied Polymer Science.

On campus: The campus is located at Guindy Industrial Estate - one of the industrial hubs of Chennai City. The campus is well connected by all means of transport. Nearest Airports are located at a distance of 10 km. from the campus. The nearest Metro Station Ekkatuthangal is adjacent to the campus. Public Transport bus facilities are also good which connect all parts of the city to the campus entrance.
The campus has state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, various department libraries, a cafeteria, a hostel, etc. The centre is an ISO 9001: 2015 certified institution for its Academic and Technology Support Services and the Plastics Testing Centre is accredited by NABL as per ISO/IEC 17025:2005 for Quality Control and Testing of raw materials and products of plastics. The spacious campus has hostel facilities that provide well-furnished accommodation with a mess facility and a recreational area. For outstation students, there are good arrangements available for boys and girls within the campus. Power backup, Continuous water supply and round-the-clock security are provided in the hostels. There are 26 seats, and the reservation policy will be given as per the norms of The University of Madras. Fee structure
Course fee: Candidates have to pay Rs. 45,500/- and Rs 40,650/- in the first and second year respectively for the M.Sc course 2024-25.

Tuition fees: Rs 30000/- per year
Development fees: Rs 5000/- per year
Admission fees: Rs 1000/- Once at admission time
Caution deposit: Rs 750/- Once at admission time
Janata policy for 2 years: Rs 200/-
CIPET Alumni fees: Rs 130/- Once at admission time
Uniform: Rs 2500/- Once at admission time
Record notebook: Rs 400/- per year
Miscellaneous: Rs1500/- per year
University registration fees: Rs 70/- Once at admission time
University Examination fees: Rs 2750/- per year
Placement fees: Rs 1000/- per year

Step 3: Scan the QR code (Given in the application form) for payment of the application fee. (Rs. 300/- for General and Rs.150/- for SC/SCA/ST).
Step 4: Upload self-attested copies of the relevant certificates.
