As part of the PG diploma in management programs, IIT Madras now offers and invites applications for a one-year PG diploma in Metro Rail Tech and Management program 2024 in sponsorship with the Chennai Metro Rail Limited for engineering graduates.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited

As a corporate establishment for the Chennai Metro Rail Project in 2007 incorporated by the Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai Metro Rail Limited has been a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu with 50:50 equity holding currently. CMRL now sponsors a PG Diploma program in Metro Rail Tech and Management (PGDMRTM) in collaboration with IIT Madras. B.E./B. Tech graduates in civil, ECE, EEE, and mechanical engineering disciplines are eligible to apply. They will be given a stipend of Rs. 30,000 per month and a direct posting of assistant manager with a pay package of Rs. 62,000 monthly on a five-year contract on successful completion of the diploma program.

Key Features of the PG Diploma Program in Metro Rail Tech and Management 2024

  • PGDMRTM is a one-year, full-time program with a stipend of INR 30,000 monthly at IIT Madras and fees completely sponsored by CMRL.
  • It is sponsored for civil, ECE, EEE, and mechanical engineering graduates.
  • On completion of the course, the candidates will be placed directly as assistant managers on a contract basis for five years with a salary of INR 62,000 per month.

  • The selected applicants should sign a bond of Rs. 6 lakhs to serve CMRL for six years including one year PG diploma program prior to joining the course.


Eligibility

  • The candidates should not be more than 28 years of age as of June 09, 2024 (again relaxation of 3 years for OBC (NCL) and 5 years for SC/ST.
  • Engineering graduates from a recognized institute/university approved by the AICTE/UGC with an aggregate of 70% marks are eligible (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST candidates).
  • The final year students who will be able to secure the degree before the commencement of the program can also apply.
  • Applicants must have a valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score.

Payment of Application Fees

Applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs.500 online for general/other and Rs. 100 for Rs.100 to the bank mentioned on the website.

  • Recent passport-size photograph
  • Photocopy of the birth certificate for age proof
  • Photocopy of the valid community certificate if applicable
  • Certificates of educational qualifications, such as 10th std, 12th std, diploma, degree, and GATE Score Card.
  • Copy of the CV
  • Any other relevant certificate if applicable
