National Law University Delhi BA/BCom LLB, LLM, Ph.D. admissions 2025-26 open
The National Law University Delhi has announced admissions open for their various law programs, namely, B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), B.Com.LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. for the academic year 2025-26 through the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) scheduled for December 2024. There is no maximum or minimum age limit for appearing in the AILET 2025 for any program, and foreign nationals are also welcome to apply.

Important to know: Even if you have qualified for the UGC NET/JRF or have an M.Phil. qualification, you must appear in the AILET-2025 for the Ph.D. course. Also, scores of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) or the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) are not adequate for admission to NLU Delhi. You are anyway required to appear in AILET.
NLU Delhi B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program
This is a 5-year course with 120 seats.
Eligibility criteria: You should have passed the Higher Secondary School exam (10+2) or an equivalent exam with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities). You can also apply if you are awaiting the results of the qualifying exam, but the eligibility requirements should be obtained by the cut-off date, which will be notified along with the notification of the entrance test result. If you are placed in compartment in the year of the admission, then you will not be eligible for admission.
Foreign Nationals/OCI/PIO are not required to appear for the AILET but must have a score of at least 65% in the Higher Secondary School exam (10+2) or an equivalent exam.

This is a 5-year course with 60 seats.
Eligibility criteria: It is the same as for the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program.

This is a one-year non-residential course with 80 seats.
Eligibility criteria: You should have an LL.B. or an equivalent law degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks (50% is the criteria for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities). You can also apply if you are awaiting the results of the qualifying exam, but the eligibility requirements should be obtained by the cut-off date, which will be notified along with the notification of the entrance test result. If you are placed in compartment in the year of the admission, then you will not be eligible for admission.
Foreign Nationals/OCI/PIO will get admission based on their academic record of LL.B. or equivalent degree recognized by the UGC/the Association of Indian Universities with not less than 55% marks or the equivalent grade. They will also be assessed on their ability to communicate in written and spoken English and performance at the interview.

Note- Hostel fees are not mentioned as there is no provision for hostel accommodation on the campus for LL.M. students.NLU Delhi Ph.D. programs
There are two broad categories for Ph.D., one is Law, and the other is Social Sciences. Those who qualify with UGC-JRF and foreign nationals do not have to appear for the entrance test for admission to a Ph.D. program at NLU. The admission is based on the evaluation of research proposals followed by an interview/viva voce. In the case of those who are required to appear for AILET, the admission process has two stages- The first is the written entrance test, and the second is the evaluation of research proposals followed by interview/viva voce.
Those who are teaching in NLUD can also apply to enroll in a Ph.D. program but must ensure that pursuing the Ph.D. program does not come in the way of their teaching role and other academic responsibilities.
Ph.D. Degree in Law: There are a total of 27 seats, out of which 16 are allotted based on merit as per AILET scores, eight for UGC-JRFs, one for Fellowship through AILET Merit, and two for foreign nationals.
Eligibility for Ph.D. in Law: You should have a Master's degree in Law or an equivalent professional degree with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (relaxed by 5% for reserved category candidates) or its equivalent Grade (please check the official website to know the other acceptable academic qualifications).
Ph.D. Degree in Social Sciences: The fields associated with Social Sciences for which you can pursue a Ph.D. are Political Science, Sociology, Criminology, Economics, and English.
There are four seats, one each for UGC JRF, AILET, Foreign Nationals, and Fellowships. The number of seats may be increased if NLUD faculty members apply as well.
Eligibility for Ph.D. in Social Sciences: You should have a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in relevant Social Sciences or Humanities with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (relaxed by 5% for reserved category candidates) or its equivalent Grade.

NLU Delhi Admissions Application procedure
Applications should be submitted online at the NLU official website
The first step is to register with your primary mobile number and email ID, and you are also required to provide the contact details of your mother/father in the relevant box in the section where details of parents are to be provided.
The following should be uploaded during the online application process-
Note- There is no need to upload mark sheets at the time of the online application procedure. These will be required to be produced later in original and with photocopies during the admission and counselling processes at the university.
AILET Entrance Exam Details
The duration of AILET 2025 will be two hours. It will be conducted offline in pen-and-paper mode on OMR sheets.
Test centres will be located in these cities: Bangaluru, Bilaspur, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Kota, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Siliguri, Thiruvananthapuram, Varanasi, Visakhapatnam. However, if the number of candidates is fewer than 100 in any city, no test centre will be set up, and in such a case you will be allotted a test city as per the second/third preference of the test city you had opted for when applying.
AILET 2025 UG Course Syllabus: There are three sections with 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) - Section A is English Language (50 questions; 50 marks); Section B is Current Affairs & General Knowledge (30 questions; 30 marks); and Section C is Logical Reasoning (70 questions; 70 marks).
AILET 2025 PG Course Syllabus: There are 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) which will be from different branches of law.
AILET 2025 for Ph.D. programs: There are 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). 50% of the questions for the entrance test shall be related to Research Methodology and for the Ph.D. in Law program, the remaining 50% shall be from different branches of Law.Entrance Exam Fee
The online application fee for the AILET entrance test for all the courses is the same-
For General /OBC/EWS/Foreign Nationals: Rs.3,500/-
For SC/ST and Persons with Disability (PwD): Rs.1,500/-.
There is no fee for SC and ST candidates who are in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
Mode of payment: The fee can be paid with a debit card or a credit card or through Net Banking/UPI, etc as per the options available which are mentioned in the admission guidelines.Processes after AILET results

The last date for submitiing the online application is18th November 2024.
For applications under Foreign Nationals and OCI/PIO Category, the last date for submitting the online application for UG and PG programs is 30th April 2025.
The University will allow corrections in the application form, if any are required, within three days after the last date for submission of the online application form, that is, up to 21st November 2024.
The AILET-2025 Admit Card will be available online for download on the AILET website from 28th November 2024 after you log in.
