Church of Bom Jesus (old Goa)
This is one of the most visited holy places in Goa.Its doorway is richly carved and interiors are exquisitely decorated with lofty ceilings.
In this church visitors can view the mortal remains of St Xavier preserved in a silver casket. Bom Jesus church and St Cathedral church reveal Gothic art and architectural style of construction which may be of academic interest to students of art and architecture.
Mangeshi temple (Ponda):
This temple of Lord Shiva is one of the oldest temples of goa. Playback singer Lata Mangeshkar belongs to this place and her ancestral home is next to this temple. Other temples, Shanthu Durga, Mhalsa, etc are Hindu pilgrimage centres of goa.
DONA PAULA:
A picturesque beauty spot about 8 km away from Panaji is another important place frequented by the tourists.
In addition to all this, there are several goanese feasts and festivities.
Carnival and Shigmo are held here in March.
