Export and import of commodities or international trade is basically buying and selling between countries. Today export management has changed from a simple marketing activity to become an integral part of trade and economic link between different countries.
The work:-
The handling of International business is done by export manager or International business / Foreign Trade Managers. They analyze technical data in business deals and understand international trade agreements and policies. Exposure to different countries, cultures and industries are important factors of the job. Their main work is to negotiate trade deals and speed up transactions. Often it is challenging to successfully affect business transactions with an international audience. They may specialize in commodities, textile, engineering goods, handicrafts, medical and chemical goods etc.
Education and Skills
Most B-schools include International business, foreign trade or international marketing as the course is often termed as part of their MBA curriculum. However some institutes also offer a specialized master's degree in International Business or Foreign Trade. The eligibility is graduation and the selection is usually through an entrance test, group discussion and interview. The objective of such course is to prepare the participants for professional careers in the modern management of international business operations in a highly competitive and fast changing world economic environment.
While the major part of this programme is similar to the marketing modules of business management, it also includes procedures and documentation of international trade operations, international law and taxation, quotas and restrictions, relevant treaties, various aspects of international business practices and so on.

Initial salary of a manager may vary from 10,000 to Rs. 15000 per month, depending on their qualifications and the institute they attended.

A large number of people open export houses of their own.

A large number of foreign multinational companies have been recruiting specialists and dare posting them out of the country. Thus an MBA with an international emphasis coupled with cultural and linguistic knowledge of other countries will be in high demand.
