Magur fishes are very popular in Assam. There are numerous ways to prepare them. One of these methods is Magur fish curry with Narasingha leaf which is very popular among Assamese people. The food is very healthy and energetic.

Ingredients for Magur Fish Curry with Narasingha

Magur Fish -250 gm
Narasingha paat ( curry leaves ) - ground 200 gms .
Onion - one (chopped)
Ginger -garlic paste -1 tsp
Large potato (boiled and mashed) - one
Green chilly paste - 1 tsp
Mastard oil -3 tbsps
Salt : for taste
Turmeric powder- 11/2 tsps .
Black paper - 1/2 tsp
water - 2 cups

Step by step method to make Magur Fish Curry with Narasingha

  1. Marinate the fish with One tbsp salt and 1 tsp termeric powder.

  2. Heat oil in a pan. Shallow fry the marinated fish. Don't let them brown. Keep them aside.

  3. Add chopped onion and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder to the remaining oil . When they start crackling, add the ginger garlic paste and green chilly paste. When the paste turns brown, add the mashed potato and salt for taste. Now add the narasingha leaves paste. Add water.

  4. Let it boil for 10 minutes. Now add the fish and cook for 10 minutes covering the pan.

  5. Put off the gas.


Magur fish curry with narasingha leaves is ready to serve! Serve it with rice.
