Points to remember while taking dietary supplements

These days we find in the market so many supplementary diets either for improving health condition such as increasing weight, lose weight, improving beauty etc but most often we tend to take supplements which we hear or see from an ad or on the advice of some friends etc.

It is very important for us to really know what we are taking specially when it comes to toking medicinal supplements.

The reason to say this is that most dietary supplements covers there are no warnings, directions, inactive ingredients and any side effects are not mentioned and do not help the person in any way.

Even after so much advancement in technology and science and so much awareness in the country Still there is no regulatory authority in India and the only authority over these is you yourself while you intake these sort of supplements.

1. Don't Ignore Symptoms: For ex when a person has to take vitamin C take it as prescribed, even too much vitamin C can cause diarrhoea. if by cutting down the dosage the problem is solved then it's fine if it dosen't help stop it and consult your doctor.

2. Avoid an overdose: Large amounts of water soluble vitamins, such as B12, are seldom harmful, because your body can easily excrete any excess, but high doses of fat soluble vitamins -A,D and E are stored in organs and tissues and can cause dry skin, nausea, joint pain and above all depression, mental instability.

3. Mix Well: If you are being treated for any heart related aliments or Heart disease, make sure that you consult your doctor before taking any supplement.
