Carrot Gravy
Ingredients
1/2 kg carrot
half a coconut
3 large onions (sliced finely)
2 tomatoes (chopped)
8 flakes of garlic
a small piece of ginger
8 green chillies
2 pieces cinnamon
2 cloves
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp poppy seed
1 lime
salt to taste
2 tbsp oil
Method:
1. Make a fine paste of coconut, poppy seed, green chillies, ginger and garlic in a mixie or a blender.
2. Peel the skin of carrot and cut into small pieces.
3. Heat oil in a kadai and put the cinnamons, onions, cloves and saute.
4. Now add the tomatoes and saute well.
5. Put the finely chopped carrots, salt and turmeric.
6. Add a little water and let it to cook for some time in a medium flame.
7. Now add the ground paste to this and mix well.
8. When the gravy becomes thick enough, remove from fire and add the juice of lime.
9. Now the carrot gravy is ready to be served with pooris, chappathis, dosas, etc.
