It is amazing how many courses and careers exist in these days. In fact, students can have a tough time deciding what would be the best for them.

Students who have cleared their supplementary examinations now stand a chance at getting into courses which can help them build their careers. There are o many other courses on can do, including engineering and medicine.

Here are some :

Under B.Sc., there are subjects like Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology or Botany, in which you can do your M.Sc., and Phd and go into research and teaching. And it is heard that there is an acute need for research in the pure sciences in India.

There are exciting courses in Arts also. In fact, bright young minds do not join social sciences like economics, sociology, political sciences etc. Which is lamentable because there is a need for sharp minds in these fields, they can use their intelligence to give inputs at policy making and planning levels.

Other popular arts courses include journalism. A journalist in the print or electronic media witnesses history in the making. Advertising is exciting if you are good at language, ideation and are creative. Archaeology is another interesting field if you like to piece together information and evidence related to the past. If you like linguistics, you can go on to do research.

If you like learning foreign languages, you can do that too like French, German, Italian to Finnish, Russian, Japanese and Korean, and many universities are offering courses in the said languages.

If you have a creative mind, what better the animation and gaming? If you enjoy number crunching, you could become a Chartered Account. Anyone who has done his 10th standard can register for the entrance exam, as the first step towards doing CA. Other options are B.Sc., in genetics, bio-tech, nursing and physiotherapy.

Nursing is a service oriented field and Indian nurses are known for their dedication. There are also diplomas in medical laboratory technology, X-ray technology, health inspector, medical records technology, etc. Pharmacy is also a field that is promising.

For those passionate about fields related to medicine and engineering, there is a career option available in prosthetic's.

There are colleges offer a B.Sc., in fashion and apparel design, so there is life beyond NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology).

PR is yet another area you might want to look at if you like interacting with people.

Hardware and networking is another career which will continue since computers are now a way of life.

Those who wish to join the defence services after their second PUC can do so by taking up NDA examination.

The civil services, i.e., IAS, IFS, IPS, etc. are open to degree students from all streams, so also MBA.

Law is also a choice you can make if you have an analytical mind.

Fine Arts too is a creative option. You can do a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) course after which, a Master of Fine Arts. With a BFA you can join the National Institute of Design in its post-graduate diploma courses.

Hotel management is another good career to think of. To become an air hostess, you should be a graduate, but the minimum is a completion of 10+2 or PUC.

If you like traveling or chalking out travel plans for others, a career in tourism is for you. You can also start your own tourism agency.

Few private institutions also offer diploma courses in travel and tourism. In fact, one of them recently launched a three-month course as tour manager, you can join a travel company and handle their tours to exotic destinations like Spain, Cairo, Prague, etc., with a group of travelers and look after them. You can see many places across the world free of charge. But most travel companies hire tour managers only for the season, for the rest of the year, you are on your own.

And finally, there is entrepreneurship, you can be your own boss. Also, you can employ others. Look at how Mr.Narayan Murthy and Mr.Nandan Nilekani put India on the world map. Entrepreneurs, they have given jobs to many thousands.
