Health Benefits of Spinach

Spinach (Palak in Hindi) is a leafy vegetable found in all the parts of India mostly in Winter season. For growth of Spinach, cold & humid climate is favorable. It is an extremely beneficial, healthy & tasty food can be used for preparing various types of recipes. Spinach cooked with the leaves of the rapeseed plant (sarson) makes delicious and healthy combination.

Spinach contains Vitamin A, B, C, E, iron, calcium, magnesium, Chlorophyll, Beta Carotene, and dietary fiber etc and very low fat & cholesterol. Though it is cold in nature, but it destroys cold and phlegm, removes blood impurities and cure bile related problems, anemia. Spinach contains iron in rich quantity. Consuming Spinach regularly increases the blood Hemoglobin and bones also become strong due to calcium contents present in it.

People with dental problem can take one glass of boiled spinach soup (may add carrot) or eat through food which also protects the gums. Taking Spinach juice everyday with Coconut water solves urinary problem. Eating raw Spinach leaves with salad or drinking raw juice is very much beneficiary for respiratory diseases. Spinach and honey combination can cure throat problems, tuberculosis and asthma. People having constipation problem should add spinach to their daily food items which cleans the digestive system and remove toxin materials from the body. For pregnant women it is advised to take spinach daily which will be beneficial both mother and child due to rich contents of iron & Vitamin A. Spinach juice or soup acts as a instant source of energy for weak persons (Popeye show in Cartoon Network is good example for kids).

Kidney patients are advised to take spinach carefully as it contains oxalic acid which may create gas related problems and consume less in rainy season.
