J.N.T.U. College of Engineering, Hyderabad Review
INTRODUCTION
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University College of Engineering Hyderabad resides in Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University itself. The College was established in 1965 as Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.It was later renamed as JNTU College of Engineering, Hyderabad in 1972. In 1984, the College was shifted to Kukatpally from Masab Tank Campus. It is spread across 100 acres and the University itself has become the major Landmark.
JNTUCEH has a record of providing high quality education. Every year a new set of fresh young minds are being delivered who, in future, are sure to become an asset to an industry. It provides an environment of academic excellence with ‘A' Grade accreditation by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). The college has being instilling confidence and vigour in young minds to face the world for few decades.
COURSES
The JNTUCEH has being the first choice of top rankers in the State Level Entrance Test - EAMCET. The college offers many Under Graduation and Post Graduation courses along with research programs. Recently it has increased its seats per department to 100 from 50 for some departments and is even is permitting admissions for Non-Indians.
The courses include Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Printing Technology.
LIBRARY
The College provides a central Library which can be used by students, faculty and staff of the university. Some Departments are provided with their own department libraries for quick access to books and Journals. The college library has about 40,502 volumes of books in different fields and provides about 50 Journals. The volumes are arranged in racks according to their corresponding fields and the information about any book of any discipline can be easily located which is provided at the head of racks.There are separate book issuing strategies for SC and ST students.
Recently new Digital Library is being developed and the entire library is going to be using e-library facilities like the online information about the books is which makes it much easier to locate books.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The College has about 40 lecture halls and 4 drawing halls. Each student is provided with the bench space of about 2 Sq.m and in laboratories the working space is about 5 sq.m per student. The seminar hall has a capacity of accommodating 150 people. Each department has got its own independent buildings, departmental Libraries and seminar halls.
HOSTELS
There are 4 hostels - Godavari Hostel and Krishna Hostel (which are for boys) and Saraswati Hostel & Kamala Nehru Hostel(which are for Girls). The hostels accommodates about 820 boys and 575 girls. PG Hostels are under construction. Deputy Wardens are allotted to each hostel block and they are available in the campus.
SPORTS AND GAMES
The college provides efficient facilities for sports. These activities are organized by Deputy Director of Physical Education.Ample facilities are provided for playing Football, Cricket, Table Tennis and other games. Large running track is provided for various sports. Basket ball court is available next to the ground.Inter college tournaments are conducted often which promises huge prizes.
CAMPUS RECRUITMENT
There is a Campus Recruitment Cell which organizes the campus interviews for the students of the College. The students performance in the campus recruitment has been very gratifying which lead to a record of 100% placement. Every year many students get selected for positions in prestigious organizations like TCS,WIPRO Systems, IBM, ADAPTEC, AGILE and CMC.Some Excellent students got selected into well established international organizations like Yahoo, Oracle,Dell etc. The students have been well placed and have become the source of the pride and prestige of the college.The current Placement Officer is Dr.K.V.Sharma who is very efficient and have been the source of calling the companies for campus recruitment.
OTHER FACILITIES
The College has several common facilities that include Guest House, Auditorium, a Branch of Andhra Bank, Extension counter of SBH, Staff Quarters, Principal Quarter, Canteen, Power House with 140 KV A Generator connected to all buildings including Hostels.
