North Bengal Medical College is the only Rural Medical college in West Bengal. Though it is under Rural (panchayat) area, it is very close vicinity to Siliguri City (only 5 Kilometer distance), the second largest city in west Bengal.

Infrastructure

There is a 1000 bedded hospital. It has huge cover catchment area -6 districts in West Bengal (specially North Bengal part),a part of state Sikkim and also nearby country like Nepal& Bhutan. Various specialty with super specialty departments are part of this medical college. Research facilities are also available.

Hostel Facility: average and hostel fee is very very less in comparision with other states-Rs. 8 only per month.

Canteen facility: average(not too good)

Sports facility: There is a large playground in this college for cricket, football, volley ball games. There is also a building for Indoor games.

Laboratory facility: very good.

Extra-curricular activities

An annual fest in a very special manner is organised by students union & college authorities. Other events like a college reunion, freshers welcome is also organised by college students & staff. The student's Union every year arranges cricket, football, volley ball & indoor games tournaments.

Tuition fee-very less, just Rs.750 per month.

Overall, the discipline is well maintained and the college authority is very strict regarding ragging-related issues.

North Bengal Medical College - Only Rural Medical college in West Bengal. Though it is under Rural (panchayet) area but very close vicinity to Siliguri City (only 5 Kilometer distance), Second largest & popular city in west Bengal.This Medical College & Hospital is 1000 bedded hospital having various specialty and some super specialty Departments. This College is run by Govt of West Bengal.Tution fee is very low here in comparison with various state Rs. 750 per Month, Hostel fee-Rs-8 per month.The infrastructure is good here.The courses offer here are-
1. M.B.B.S-150 seat
2. M.D. In 12 discipline - Total 46 seats:-Anatomy (4), Physiology (4), Pathology (7), Forensic Medicine & Toxicology (2), Community Medicine (3), General Medicine (4), General Surgery (4), Gynaecology & Obstetrics (2), Ophthalmology (2), ENT (2), Anesthesiology (4), Orthopedics (2), Pediatrics (4), Radio diagnosis (2) under the West Bengal University of Health sciences, Kolkata.
