La Martiniere Boys College, Lucknow Review La Martiniere Boys College Lucknow is one of the oldest educational institutes of the country. It has been proving education since 1845. The medium of instruction is English Language. The schools cater for pupils from the ages of four to seventeen/eighteen, and is open to children of all religious denominations. It is one of the best schools in the country. It provides for both day scholars and boarders.
The school is affliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations(CISCE) and has achieved excellent results in the past many years. It boasts of a prominent list of Alumni who have excelled in various fields and have made their alma mater proud.
Apart from the main building Constantia further buildings have been erected to cater for the growing needs of modern education (provide modern facilities). The college apart from the old theatre styled large assemly hall called the Spence Hall has rooms and sections for various co-curricular activites like arts and music.
It has well equipped Science Laboratories in a different science block and a separate computer centre.
There are three dormitories for the boarders, along with a big dining hall called Sykes Hall. The college has a small hygienic tuck shop on the campus which sells snacks and beverages to the students at nominal prices.
The School has extensive facilities for sports and extra curricular activities. It has a huge sports ground used for Cricket, football, hockey and the annual sports day. It has smaller grounds for various other sports. It has a badminton field, a basket ball court, Skating Rink,a well equipped gymnasium and two indoor swimming pools of different sizes.
It has activities like Cubs, Scouts and the National Cadet Corp (NCC). The students at La Martiniere are encouraged to participate in various events and competitions held in the city and even outside city at both national and international levels.
The school has its own bagpipe band which is one of its kind and a treat to listen to on various events.
The students are divided into four houses named Lyons, Martin, Cornwallis, Hodson, each with a separate colour and motto. Each school house has a diffent common room or "house room" as it is popularly known. It regularly organises inter house competions for both academic and co-curricular events.
The Students passing out of La Martiniere are proud to be called "Martinians".
