Sherwood College, Nainital Review
Sherwood College is a co-educational residential school in Nainital on Ayarpatta Hill. The school was founded in 1867. It is one of the oldest schools in Nainital. The school is affiliated to ICSE Board and has students from class 3 to class 12.
Apart from a huge field, Sherwood College also boasts of a swimming pool and a basketball court. The school also has squash and lawn tennis courts which are popular with the students.
All round development of each and every student is emphasised, with equal stress on academics and extra-curricular activities. Speaking in English is encouraged in the school. The students are also taken on educational tours to different parts of India.
Dramatics in the school are of a high quality and the sports teams in various disciplines are worth mentioning.
The motto of the school is Mereat Quisque Palmam meaning Let each one merit his own prize.
The legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan has studied in this school. Sherwood College also has many students who have taken part in the World Wars. Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw is also one of the alumni.
