State College of Education, Patiala Review
State College of Education is the only government college in Patiala till date providing B.Ed. and M.Ed. Courses. This is a small college with 200 seats in B.Ed. and 25 seats in M.Ed. course respectively.
The quality of education is very good here. In B.Ed., there are six sections and thus there are near about 30-35 students in each class. Individual attention and top quality infrastructure are the main qualities of this college.
There is a big library in the college, where students can easily get access to all the books available there. Hostel facility is available for girls and boys, as the students of various cities and districts come to study here. One needs to have a very good rank in the entrance test to get admission here.
Besides these, there is also a big canteen, sports room and gym for the students. Classrooms are very big and airy. There is filtered water facility for the students.Playground and gardens are well maintained.
Morning assembly is held every Tuesday at 9 a.m. Students from the different sections participate in it and along with the morning prayer and thoughts many other activities are also carried out e.g. extempore, poetry recitation, declamation, quiz etc. The stress is laid on the overall development of the students, which is the main aim of education colleges.
Besides the regular daily lectures, the students are encouraged to give presentations in their subjects. They are required to produce models and chart papers as the teaching aids throughout the year. All the necessary effort is done to make the best teachers out of them.
The teachers are very qualified and some of them have doctorate degree in their subjects. Dr. Shawinder Rekhi, Dr, Jaswinder Singh, Dr. Kamaljit Singh, Dr. Inderjeet Kaur are a few to be named. Overall reputation of the college is very good and having a degree in education from this college is extra credit to ones name.
