The Shanti Nagar High School at Mira Road provides education up to Std.X. The school is easily accessible from the railway station and by auto rickshaws. The school bus facility is operated by a private operator.
The Shanti Nagar High School, Mira Road is very spacious, occupying a 2-storeyed building. The campus is spread over more than 1000sq. feet. The playground is really huge – so huge that cricket matches as well as soccer and hockey games can be easily conducted here much like professional ones. A separate court is provided for tennis and badminton. The classrooms are large and there is a school library and science labs. There are no hostel facilities in the school and no canteen.
Since there are separate school timings for lower and higher classes, the campus facilities and playground are freely available for the various batches of students. No clashes!
There is a separate hall-type facility for students who wish to get guidance from teachers after normal class hours. This, together with the excellent teaching faculty, does away with the need for outside tuition. In fact, teachers of the school are not permitted to give private tuition to the students.
In addition to academic subjects, including computer education, the Shanti Nagar High School has made arrangements for teaching dance and karate by outside professionals. These classes are optional for students and are conducted on a weekly basis. The fees for dance classes is Rs.300/- per month and the fees for karate classes is Rs.100/- per month.
Every year students are taken on field trips and excursions. In a year there are at least 2 such trips, one to a museum or zoo or nature park and another a fun excursion to the Water Park.
Overall, the Shanti Nagar High School Mira Road can be rated high for its academic as well as sporting facilities. The one drawback is lack of a canteen, so you need to pack a few extra snacks for your kids!
