This island is totally cut off with road ways but connected with boat services. This island acquires boat service thrice a week. All materials are to be transported from portblair. Once the Island was prosperous with the functioning of kitply industries but due to acute shortage of raw materials the factory was bounded to shutdown and since then the island lost its popularity and importance. Even under these circumstances, large number of people living in the island as a government servant and few of them are peasants. They produce vegetables and other crops in huge quantity and sell their produce in portblair. This is the only school of this area. No other school is functioning in this island. Despite low strength, the Directorate of Education continued to run the school considering the remoteness of the island. This school played a vital role in the upliftment of the condition of people of this area. It catered thousands of children of this area.

The teachers of this school trying their best to bring a good record in the academic area but it is proved to quite uneasy for such outstanding academic records.
