Shri M.P. Shah Government Medical College, Jamnagar Review I worked in this college for 2 years from June, 2002 to August, 2004. In many ways this college is a prototype of the typical government medical college in Gujarat. Usually this college is 5th or 6th in the order of preference by students in Gujarat.
At the under graduate level there is not much to differentiate this college from the other government colleges in Gujarat. Teaching is sporadic and limited to a few teachers. Much of the learning is self directed. However of late many initiatives have been started to regularise it.
At the post graduate level this college has lot of cases of the basal level kind. But rarer cases and advanced management protocols are lacking, thus leading to an incompleteness in the postgraduate teaching. As a result of this a post graduate of this college usually has some to catching up to do after passing out.
All in all not a bad college to take admission in if you are sure that you want to be a doctor. But you should be always aware that there will be some lacunae in your training which would need to be filled up.
