College of Engineering Pune, Pune Review
History and current status:
CoEP- college of engineering Pune, established in 1854- one of the leading or top most institutes in India now. It is the third oldest college in Asia. Its like a mini IIT for the students.
The college offers different courses for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorates.
College campus:
Along with the engineering departments, college has Mathematics, Physics, Applied Science departments and innovation centre too. All the departments have good infrastructure facilities, the faculty available are mostly Ph.D holders or pursuing their Doctorates. The laboratories are well furnished with fully equipped with all instruments, machines, tools etc. There is a big library for students attached with a reading room open for 24 hours for students. Students can check books availability on-line also. The hostels provided for the students are very well constructed and have good mess(meals) facility in reasonable price which is near the college campus. Wired as well as wireless internet facility is provided both at college campus and hostel campus with very good speed.
Events:
There is a big ground on which every year ZEST- a sports competition is held organized by COEP students. There are different contests, like technical, non-technical through out the year.
One of the main events is "MindSpark", in which technical paper presentations, group discussions, contraptions, robot-race, dog-fights etc. events been included. There is another interesting event which fetches all Pune people to watch during annual gathering time is "Regatta". This event is organized by Boat-Club, formed by students. The first year students take active participation in this event and shows different activities in Mula river through their boats as the river is aside the college campus only.
Exams and placements-activities:
Though the college is autonomous, some faculty used to set their papers through IIT faculty or call them for paper assessment and keep all these activities very transparent. The percentage of students results is also very good.
The campus placement is almost 100% every year for the final year students. Many reputed companies visit the campus for selection likes of Microsoft, GE, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Tata Motors etc.
For improvement in personal development as well as technical, the students organize different programs every week.
The alumni meetings also been held after some time span.
College timings:
The college timings are: 10:00am to 5:00pm.
Though the college fees are varying every year or two by a mere amount it is very much affordable to a common student. The college management and Shikshan Shulk samiti decides the fee structure.
Overall this is a one of the best colleges in Maharashtra as well as in India which is ranked in top 20 in the country and every COEPian is proud to have learned in COEP.
