About college:
College of Engineering, Pune is one of best college from Maharashtra state. It is an Autonomous Institute of the Government of Maharashtra. The students with good marks from rural as well as urban area do their engineering education from this institute. Infrastructures such as main institute building, canteen, boy's and girl's hostel, library are properly planned and designed. The institute is surrounded with various Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) offices and multinational companies. The institute is located at the heart of Pune (The city of Academic Excellence) city. The institute is close to Shivajinagar, Pune railway station. The public and private transport facility is available from all the regions of Pune city to this college. The institute is accessible through road, rail and by air ways. The Shivajinagar, Pune Bus Stand and Railway station is 0.5 Km from institute. The International Airport of Pune is 12.0 Km from institute. The institute is located 5.0 Km from the Pune station. The rivers such as Mula, Mutha are close to this institute. College of Engineering, Pune is affiliated with University of Pune.
Brief History of College:
College of Engineering, Pune is popularly called as COEP. There are various prestigious colleges currently exist in India, COEP is one of it. The establishment of the COEP College was in the year 1854 i.e. during the British governance. If we see the old colleges of Asia, first comes College of Engineering Guindy which as established in the year 1854, second comes Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee which was established in the year 1847 and finally COEP which was started in the year 1854. The academic graph of college is excellent, so in the year 2004, it was granted as autonomous institute. However, the courses from this institute are equivalent to Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education.
Infrastructure:
The infrastructure of College of Engineering, Pune institute is excellent as all the amenities are within reach. The departments such as Mechanical, Civil, Computer, Information Technology, Electronics, etc are well connected to each other so as to have easy access to each other. Due to easy connectivity, the programmes conducted by each department have excellent response from individual. The hostel facilities provided are excellent. As per the region conditions, the Boy's hostel and Girl's hostel are well separated, however it has proximity to institute main building. Not only Pune Muncipal Transport (PMT), private transport such as the Auto Rickshaw facility is also easily available from all regions of Pune city. The college campus is surrounded with Shivajinagar Bus Stand and Railway Station, Bank Of Maharashtra, Pune Radio Center, Shivajinagar Shimla Office and Mutha River. The college is also located near the National Highway No. 4 (NH4). Canteen and garden facilities are also provided, however, these are outside the main infrastructure building of the college. But, these facilities are easily reachable from the every part of college campus.

Admission and fees:
The admission to B.Tech First year or direct B.Tech Second year is available. Candidate who are willing to take admission at College of Engineering, Pune can take admission in B.Tech First year or B.Tech second based on the eligibility criteria. Admission at COEP is carried out Centralized Admission Process i.e. through CAP. To take admission in any discipline candidate must have to satisfy below mentioned criteria:
B.Tech. First Year:
1) Candidate must have a good score in Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test
(MH-CET) are eligible for admission. Based on the rank in the candidate will be get admitted in the institute.
2) One more basic criteria is that, candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) examination in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects or equivalent courses with minimum 50% marks. Such candidate can apply for these courses.
B.Tech Second Year:
1)The candidate who have good score in Diploma courses are eligible for applying for second year admission. Based on the rank, candidate get admission in respective B.Tech branch.
Labs:
The department B.Tech Mechanical is having well equipped practical labs. The required machinery is also installed and maintained properly in this department. The B.Tech Production department is also set with similar to B.Tech Mechanical department and it is equipped with good systems in the practical labs. The computer and Information Technology department is having well designed computer labs and classrooms. The internet connectivity is also good for these departments. In B.Tech Civil Engineering, department the testing machines are which are required for field as well as lab testing are well maintained. The B.Tech Metallurgical Engineering is also provided with sufficient systems and machinery which are required for practical purpose. B.Tech Electronics & Tele-communication branch is provided with very good electronic devices which are properly planned, designed and placed. The infrastructure of these departments is very good.
Teaching:
At College of Engineering, Pune College, all the teachers are experienced and they possess a good qualification record. All the teachers from this institute have their minimum qualification as M.Tech Engineering or Master degree in Engineering. The teachers are friendly in nature. They encourage and motivates the students in order to achieve personal as well as career growth in future. They help students to adapt practical approach for all engineering practices and experiences. COEP is one of the leading colleges from Pune in different cultural competitions which include prestigious Firodiya Karandak and Purushottam Karandak. The teachers play a very important role in encouraging student to take part in such competitions.
Training and placement:
Training and Placement department of College of Engineering, Pune College is active and much productive. In this department, not only teaching staff but also and student are active members. Training and placement department conducts ample amount of aptitude test so as to prepare for interviews. Seminars on various current topics are conducted by this cell and these are national level. Apart from these activity, Training and placement cell, carries out expert lectures on Personality development and Fluent English Speaking so as to students become eligible for reputed companies. The educational tours are also conducted which encourage the students to go for practical approach with fun. The main activity carried out by this department is to invite various companies for campus interview and execute it successfully.
Library:
Library of College of Engineering, Pune College is centrally located and it is easily accessible from various department of the college. The building of library is well designed and properly planned within the college campus. Even it is separated from main building of college, it is easily reachable. The source of knowledge i.e. library is having various sections such Technical section, non technical section, News Paper section, Computer lab sections, Other utility section etc. There is extra efforts have been taken so as to separate the technical and non technical sections. Journal section and Notes section is separated but it adjoin to each other. More than 50,000 technical books in deferent subject and in different domain are present. Around 2000 journals and more than 1000 books on competitive exam are available in the library. The B.Tech courses such as Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology needs CDs and DVDs on course subject. Keeping this in mind, the library is designed for CDs and DVDs section and these are issued separately.
The advanced facilities which include advanced Printer machine and Xerox machine are also provided in the library without taking any charge for it. This system is located in such a way that it can be easily accessible in the library area. The section which is most interesting and students spend much of their time from the library is the computer section. It is open for while day and accessible to every student of this college. It is also associated with support and record maintenance for library as well as computer sections. There is one more additional facility is provided in the library i.e. Newspaper section. Students from this college take advantage of reading of local as well as national Newspapers so as to enhance their knowledge base. The Newspapers mostly are in local and English language present in the entrance section of the library.

Sports:
Sport department is having two major sections for indoor and outdoor games. A large and sufficient sport ground is available in College of Engineering Institute. The excellent badminton court is present in the college campus. The good facilities for outdoor games such as Basketball, Volley ball, Cricket and Football is present in the college area. Carom and Chess like indoor games are present in recreational area. Nice jogging park is available where student take advantage of fresh air in the morning as well as in the evening. Students participate in national and international sports competitions and win the prizes.
Hostel:
Excellent hostel facility is present in the College of Engineering, Pune. There are separate building for Boy's hostel and Girl's hostel. As most of the students are from outside the Pune city, the hostels are generally full in the initial period of admission. As there is not enough capacity so as to admit major students from the college, the private rooms are also available in the nearby area, where students from outside Maharashtra generally get admitted. There are more than 15 Boy's hostel and 9 Girls hostels are present in good conditions. The hostels are well maintained and these are well planned. The hostels are proximal to main building of college. 24 x 7 hours water supply is available in hostel as well as in college campus. The excellent security guard facility is available for both college and hostel campus. The special ladies guards are present for Girl's hostel campus.
Co- curricular activities:
There are various colleges are leading the cultural activities, College of Engineering, Pune is one of the them. This institute is leading in competition in various cultural activities which includes the prestigious Firodiya Karandak as well as Purushottam Karandak Events. Apart from cultural activity, the active NSS department is present which is associated with Sports department. Together they conduct NSS camps in nearby area. The awareness about global warming, Tree plantation awareness, Save girl child campaign are carried out by NSS team. Various important days such as Teachers day, Sports Day, Engineering Day as well as Traditional Days is celebrated with enthusiasm. The competitions on Fashion show, Dance, Singing are conducted and these are very famous in CoEP.
The cultural activities, Sports competitions are also combined with competition on the technical functions. These are mainly introduced in order to enhance technical skill of students from this college. The technical activities and competitions mainly consists of International and National level Technical paper presentation. The Project Exhibition is one the activity involved in it. Apart from it, the contest on Computer games programming, Different application programming contest are conduction in the college.
Cafeteria:
The all kind of food facility is available in the canteen of College of Engineering, Pune. Separate snacks center is also present in the college canteen section. The morning tea, lunch , evening snacks and Dinner facility at night is available in the canteen. The good quality food and with different variety is available always. Canteen of institute generally opens from morning 6.00 am and closes at 11.00 pm every day. In examination day, it opens for 24x7 hours. There are separate sections for male students and female students also for teaching staff also in the canteen. The caterers are from different locations of Pune, the competition within them results in good, delicious and healthy food for everyone. The canteen is provided with self service facility.
Transport:
College of Engineering, Pune institute is located at the core of Pune city. In order to reach at college, a lot many transport facilities are available within the city and from outside the Pune city. Pune Municipal Transport also called as PMT, Auto Rickshaw, private Cars, buses are available at very good frequency. Infrastructure and roads are easily connected to college campus and those are within the reach.
Conclusion:
College of Engineering, Pune institute is having good campus area along with good library and canteen facilities. The college has excellent teaching staff with good experience in each field of Engineering. The Practical labs, various systems and machines, tools which are used for practical purpose not only during project as well for other technical purpose are excellent. The campus placement is record is best compared to other institutes from Maharashtra. The packages offered to the students from this college are higher than any other college in this region. So those who have good marks in HSC and in CET and willing for better career growth can apply for this college.
