Silver Oaks International School Bachupally, Hyderabad Review Silver Oaks school is located in Bachupally, Hyderabad. It is located in a lush green campus of 4 acres. It was started in 2002 as a state syllabus school. Eventually the school has taken up CBSE syllabus and adopted the IB methodology: PYP (Primary Years Program) in teaching. From grade VII onwards they follow purely CBSE syllabus with regular teaching practices.
The school has been IB certified in 2010, but they have been following this method from 2008. This method of teaching does expects a lot from the child, child's attendance in the class, his/her grasping ability and creativity. The exams are conducted in as UOI's (Unit Of Inquiry).
The children need not carry loads of books. The teachers are trained in IB and PYP teaching methodology. The location of the school is on the highway, so there is not much public transport available in this route. The school provides transport facility, but they are confined to a radius of around 10-12 kms. That is a major drawback. There are many children who take up own transport due to this reason.
The campus is very impressive. Apart from the classroom buildings, they have a huge playground. Separate tennis courts, swimming pool, basketball courts etc can be found on the campus. Children are trained in various other activities such as skating, gymnastics, cricket etc. Students are encouraged to take up 2 activities, one external and one internal every year. Apart from this students are specially trained during the after school hours if interested by professional trainers.
They do not have any canteen, but lunch is provided for higher grades on campus which is optional. They do not encourage on campus food for the primary grades for known reasons.
The school timings are from 8:30am to 3:30pm. They have a common hall for organizing functions and gatherings. The computer lab is accessible from grade 1 onwards.
The school focuses on building leadership qualities in the children. They focus on “Our Nation", and most of their themes and concepts revolve around this. The principal Mrs.Sita Murthy is very aggressive and the same can be seen in the students.
For the year 2012-13 they are charging a non-refundable fee of 40k, and a refundable 10k, apart from the regular fee, which comes to around 30k for three terms together. Transport charges are extra depending on the distance.
