Jyothi Engineering College, Thrissur Review
Introduction
The Jyothi Engineering Collegeis promoted by Thrissur educational trust founded by catholic Archdiocese of Thrissur and established in the year of 2002. Over these years Jyothi become a model for the self financing college. Jyothi is become the one of the best engineering college in state of Kerala in a short period and get ISO certification.
Location
The college is located at Vettikattiri a small village on the way of Panjal and in our cultural capital Thrissur. The cultural university Kalamandalam is located near place of the college, the place named Cheruthiruthi. The campus is spread over more than 11 acres of land at Jyothi hills. And the campus make beautiful and calm atmosphere with fully greenish appearance. The minds of anyone get cool inside the campus, and it is make very relaxation mood when we walk through the campus.
Course offered
The Jyothi engineering college offers the following six courses in B tech with an intake of 60 students in each course. 1)Applied Electronics & Instrumentation 2)Computer Science And Engineering 3)Electronics and Communication Engineering 4)Electrical and Electronics Engineering 5)Information Technology 6)Mechanical Engineering The courses are approved by All India council for Technical education and also affiliated by University of Calicut.
Admission and Fees structure
The applicant must pass in the higher secondary level exam with prescribed minimum mark offered by the Calicut university. And also secure a rank in the entrance test conducted by state Governemnt. The management seats are purely based on the merit. But for NRI seats are available for the students even they are not appeared in the entrance test. The fee structure is as like government rule, but they are not in agreement with Government about the seat and fees. There are number of scholarship are available in this institute that is offered by the institution itself and also from the outside.
Infrastructure facilities
Jyothi engineering college in co- operates with buildup area of more than 3lakh square feet. The campus contain various facilities like administrative block, academic blocks, men and ladies hostels, an extension counter of the federal bank, store, canteen, and gymnasium.
Central library
The Jyothi Engineering College Central Library has an area of758 sq.m and is housed in the administrative block spanning 2 floors. It has a seating capacity of more than 300 peoples, and provides serene sitting. The library has got a collection more than 17000 volumes consisting of above 6000 titles from Indian and foreign authors. The digital library consists of good collection of around 1343 CD-ROMs.
Labs
The college provides well equipped lab facilities for the students of various departments. Well qualified trainees are taken the lab class. The college has computer labs with more multimedia facility and also network provisions. Various branch have various block of labs are available in the college. The lab is maintained well and student gets the entire required element from the lab. The college provides one of the excellent labs to the children.
Teaching
Experienced and well qualified teachers are taken the class. For the teaching aids the college provides LCD projectors, computer audio video devices etc. The teachers behave as friends of the student, and they always very mingle with the student. They help the students to find the target and help to reach the target. The college conducts series examination regularly to evaluate the performance of the students. The Group tutor system is done there.
Hostel
There are separate hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The hostels are taken care of by Priests and Sisters. Mobile phone is prohibited inside the hostel as in the college, but there is telephonic access is available for each room. In this college TV shows are permitted daily during recreation time and on holidays only. Facilities are also available for playing games. And also for Washing and drying area is provided along with the facility to iron.
Transportation
As the college being distant 30 km from Thrissur, Jyothi College provides transportation facilities both for students and staffs. There are more than 10 number of vehicles are available in the college for the purpose of transportation and also one traveler for senior staff and also one car is available for the Principal. This will help more than 600 student's transportation.
Canteen
The college has a canteen near the administrative block, offers vegetarian and non vegetarian food for students and staff. The Canteen is open from 8.00 A.M. to 8.00 P.M. on all working days including Saturdays. The canteen provides moderately good food at a nominal rate.
Arts& Sports
The college provides play grounds for football, cricket, basketball, shuttle etc with a large area. The college has a floodlit stadium of floor area 703 sq.m in the Western Academic Block for indoor games like Shuttle badminton, Table Tennis .Students are always encouraged to participate in sports and games competition events at the intercollegiate level in addition within the college. And they secure good win various competition. And also provide arts facility for the students. And the students also secure some outstanding wins through the youth festivals. Thus the college creates an opportunity for the student to spread their skill in the respective fields of arts and sports to the public.
Training and placement
Training and placement cells are worked and functioned after the year 2005-2006. The college provides necessary training for the students to get placed. The training includes improving soft skill ability of the student. And the college has good placement record up to now.
Other
The college has a vast auditorium with intake seating capacity of 1000 persons. And also provide banking facility in co operate with Federal bank. The college has co-operative store and it provides text books and other necessary items to the student. And the college has church for your praying.
Co- curricular activities
The college has various association like NSS, Environmental club, Rotary club etc, under these association various programs and also seminars are held in the campus.
Discipline
The college has well structured discipline. The student must wear uniform inside the campus, and also they are not allows to bring mobile phone inside the campus. The liquor and smoke are also prohibited inside the campus. Those who participate in this type of offence will get punishment.
Working time
The college is functioned on the time interval between 9.15 am to 4.15 am. Noon interval time is between 12.25pm to 1.15pm. Jyothi College is worked on Monday to Friday. Saturday there is no regular class is on there.
