Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore Review
Introduction
Amrita Vishwa vidhyapeetham was known as Amrita Institute of technology (AITEC) till 2004 . I had first visited the campus for first time in 2000 to see SUPER COMPUTER.That time I was doing my XII standard and trip was organised by my school.College atmosphere,natural arena, buildings, lab facility and the college with SUPER COMPUTER attracted me. Never thought that I will join in the same college.Yes in 2001 I joined my first year B.tech IT department in AITEC.
Placement facilities:
Any students before entering into a college they will start think about the placements.Even I had the same thinking in my mind, like wise in 2004 I got placed in CTS which greatly helps me to start my career. I always thank AITEC for keeping me in this good position. In our IT batch, there were 102 members in 2 batches, out of which 96 students got placement and other members are ruled out because they opted to study aboard. Almost 99% placement assurance is given here. My junior batch on words, they were given 3 placement each.So that students can opt based on the companys grade and position and salary.
Hostel and mess facilities:
After entering into the college I got admission in hostel where 4 members per room was allocated with neat and clean area,cot and very well maintained bathroom.
Had my first lunch in the mess hall with my unknown friends. The food was really amazing,since it was Sunday we had few special dishes.I Always had an opinion that hostel foods are bad until I tasted the AITEC food.Complete environment from my room,washroom and mess hall are very very neat and hygiene. Seeing this my parents thought that they had given the best to their daughter.
And again in final year we were given single room system for every student, which will be very useful to study alone and to do project work.
Lab facility:
The next thing that attracted me is the computer lab facility.Being an IT student this is a very basic criteria which needs to be satisfied for every student. AITEC proved us in that aspect as well with upgraded windows and Linux and other software with LCD monitors, where I had seen the LCD display monitors for the first time over there.And we have lab facility from morning 6 AM till night 10.30 PM. Ample of systems where there,so its not necessary for us to share the system to use.
Other facilities:
IT/ECE/CS block will be separate from mechanical/production/automobile block.
They have a separate campus for library, where we were given full opportunity to use till night 10.30 PM with wide variety of books from technical magazine till comic stories etc.
Wide and well operational swimming pool is there. Here swimming competitions at international level will be held.
Though hostel and college are in the same campus but they are at a distance of 2-3 km. So separate free shuttle service is provided by the management for every 30 mins once during day time.
Music block is available after 5 PM, so that the students who are very much interested in music and in instruments can very well use it
Canteen - well good food ,juices also snack items are available
Around 500-800 people can be accommodated in the auditorium (A/C) at the same time.Where we used to have pre placement talk by companies
Faculties and coaching
Almost all the faculties recruited here are M.tech,P.hd graduates and they are very good in training the students practical wise. They are very friendly and approachable and also they act as a mentor in hostel as well.
Conclusion-
Choosing Amrita for education will be the best choice so that you will get out of the campus with minimum one job in hand.They are having a fee structure which is little high but still worthy investment.
