Overview Don Bosco School is a missionary school for boys which came into existence in the year 1948. The school started its educational journey with 92 students from classes III to class VI but now it provides education to more than 2000 boys. The school was built according to the teachings of St John Bosco and currently The Salerian of Don Bosco, a catholic society runs the school. The school provides a lot of facilities to the students for proper physical and mental development. The school has recently upgraded itself to Class XI and XII and now it is having classes from primary to higher secondary. Recently, the school has also accepted girl students for Class XI and XII. Currently, the school principal is Fr. Joseph Thelekkatt.
Location The school is located near the St. Joseph Church in Panbajar, Guwahati. The school is situated opposite to Kamrup Headquarter SP office on the Annand Ram Baruah road. The school is situated almost 3 km away from Panbajar Girls Secondary School. The school covers a very large area and is almost situated in centre of the main city.
Bus facility and transport The school buses are provided by Green Valley and Car pools transport. The school has many school buses and these school buses cover all the routes and stoppages of Guwahati.
Infrastructure and facilities One of the best things of this school is the amount of facilities the school provides to the students. The school is a three storey building having a big assemble ground in the middle .The school has well equipped and well maintained laboratories for biology, physics and chemistry for the students' purposes. The school also has two basketball courts along with four large playgrounds for football and cricket matches out of which one is made of concrete. The school has a big multipurpose hall cum sports complex where students can perform various co-curricular activities and curriculum. Inside this multipurpose hall there are two table tennis courts along with a badminton court.
Academics The school was first affiliated under Guwahati University but the school has recently affiliated to CBSE in 2006. The subjects allotted to the students are English, mathematics, science, social science, secondary language (hindi, assamese), computer science, environmental studies, life skills and general knowledge. The academic performance of the school is also outstanding. Most of the students secure good state positions and are rank holders. About 23% of the students secure more than 90% in the CBSE board exam. The faculty is also well experience and trained and is very caring. The school also provides audio-visual education for the students for better understanding.
Co-curricular activities The school organizes various cultural programmes such as recitation, annual function, music competitions, play and drama, extempore, workshops, training, debate, art competition and many more to keep the students very active. The school also organizes various sports and games competitions and also provides training and couching in many sports after school hours. The school also has clubs and association where students can actively take part in various activities. The school also conducts education tours and excursion for the students.
Admission Admission for the new session starts from the month of March. The admissions forms are available from the school office or from their website. The students are selected through a written test and interviews and the selected students' names are announced in the school website. Admission for girls are allowed only for the higher secondary,
Future Plans The school is constructing a swimming pool, open theater hall and table tennis hall for the students' physical training.
