Overview
Jayaraj Annapackiam CSI College of Engineering is affectionately nicknamed by its abbreviation "JACSICE". This reputed Institution was established in the millennium year 2001 with the motto “Make Technology Reachable and Affordable to All specifically to Rural students". A special day called Toppers day is conducted every year once to motivate toppers of the college by rewarding JACSICEs Scholarships to those students. Finance assistance are provided for every students by certain scholarships and arranging education loan for supporting their studies. Placement trainings are arranged inside the campus for students to get placement in BPOs and Software Industries. This institution is located at Nazareth-Sathankulam highways, in 25 acres of land area and is well connected with Tirunelveli & Tuticorin within 40-45kms by road and rail. The college is approved by AICTE and Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and also certified by TUV-NORD with ISO 9001:2008 for its quality in providing well equipped education. It offers various courses such as B.E-Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), B.Tech.-Information Technology (IT), B.E-Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). It waits for the approval in some courses such as B.E-Civil Engineering, M.E-Computer Science and Engineering. Faith, Hope and Love is the slogan towards its achievements.
Location
Jayaraj Annapackiam CSI college of Engineering is situated at Nazareth, an elegant semi-urban and God-fearing town in Tuticorin (Thoothukudi) district. As Tuticorin district is well known for seas and harbour, it is called as Pearl-city. It is located 4Km from the interior of the semi-urban called Nazareth. It is situated near to Nazareth-Sathankulam highways.
Infrastructure
It is run by CSI Thoothukudi-Nazareth Diocese which also manages more than 350 educational institutions in Thoothukudi District. This college is located on 25 acres of landscape area. It composes well furnished computer lab facilities with Hi-speed Internet connectivity for both Information Technology (IT) and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) departments. Laboratories for mechanical, electrical, digital signals and microprocessors are provided with sufficient facilities and equipment. Libraries are furnished well with e-journals and magazines to enhance student knowledge in up-to-date technology. The hostel facilities are provided for both girls and boys separately inside the college premise. The girls' hostel and boys' hostel are well separated, close to main building of institute in order to reach college easily. A canteen is functioning for every working hours, inside the college campus for providing catering service. Departmental staff rooms are provided for each department for the departmental faculties, near to the main building. An auditorium is established within the college campus, for conducting every departmental and college activities. A large playground with different courts is constructed for the football, cricket, volleyball etc... Within the campus, a store is functioning for the ease of students. A placement and training cell is established to give assistance in student's placement activities.

Admission
Candidates who are willing to want admission in this institute either can take to B.E. First year or to direct second year lateral entry. The online admission facility is available in the college facility. B.E first year admission can be done either through counselling or management. Admission through counselling process is carried directly by Anna University at Chennai. Candidates who failed to get counselling seats can alternatively for management seat. Students can fill the application available in the college website and submit to the college. It collects only Government fee for both management seats and counselling seats, free from donation.
Candidates who satisfy the following eligibility criteria can apply for the admission:
1)For First year:
Eligibility - HSC (Academic / Vocational)
Aggregate of Maths, Physics, Chemistry
OC - 50%
BC - 45%
MBC / DNC - 40%
SC / ST - mere pass
2)For Second year lateral entry:
Eligibility - Diploma / B.Sc (maths as one subject) with the above percentage of mark.
Lab facilities
Mechanical lab is well equipped with carpentry, welding and sufficient motors which are conducted in the mechanical field. Drawing halls are provided for students during every Graphics classes. The advanced computer labs with good hi-speed internet network facility are provided for both Computer Science and Engineering and Information technology departments. The electronic devices and microprocessors required in Electronics & Communication Engineering branch are also properly designed and placed. So that all practical can be conducted efficiently and easily with good faculties.
Library
A central library is available in the main building to facilitate and cultivate the reading habits in students as well as technology reachable to students. It encompasses many technical book, reference books, local-author books, journals and magazines. Notes and books are well separated and well maintained department wise in different racks as per the ease of students in searching books. This library is linked with e-journals to enhance current technology-oriented knowledge.
The Library uses auto-lib software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. The auto-lib consists of modules on acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials, article indexing and OPAC.
Retrospective conversion of bibliographic records has been completed and more bibliographic records of books available in the Library, can now be accessed through the OPAC. The database of books available in the Library is being updated on day to day basis with details of recently acquired books. The editing and updating activities are in progress.
The Auto-lib package has been successfully implemented for the circulation activities, by using the bar-code. All the books of library are bar-coded.

In addition to the library facility, extra facilities like Xerox machine and printer with PC are also provided near to the library so that it can be easily accessible. Students are provided with ID cards with barcode for ease of taking books. This section is well operated for maintaining the records. All the staffs working in library are local however they have sufficient knowledge and they are well graduate in respective discipline. Students are taking advantage of reading of local newspapers, English newspapers magazines and journals.
Placement and Training cell
Placement Cell of Jayaraj Annapackiam C.S.I. College of Engineering, Nazareth is functioning for the development of students in knowing about the job opportunities and to place them in suitable jobs. It focuses to train the students both morally and technically, to create awareness about the latest technologies and job opportunities, to make students placed in a reputed company/ Industry, to create awareness about the Entrance examinations like GATE, CAT, MAT, TANCET etc...
Training programmes such as aptitude, verbal and technical training such as C, C++, MATLAB, Dot-Net, CCNA etc., are provided for students to improve the personality development, interview skills, communication skills and various soft skills.

Students are also encouraged to perform their higher education in the reputed institutions like IITs, IIMs etc. Also give awareness to the students about IELTS, TOEFL, and GRE for doing higher education in abroad.
Faculties
Each department constitute a cohesive team of faculty members to produce Superlative Engineers who are being recruited by Multi National companies all over the world. More than 1500 students and about more than 50 well-educated faculties are provided to mould talented engineers. The members of the faculty are well qualified and experienced possessing M.E. and Ph.D. All the members of staff who have not been awarded Ph. D. have registered themselves for it. The ways of teaching adopted by all faculties are really excellent.
Curricular activities
Students score very excellent percentage in the exams conducted by the Anna University due to the consistent and effective coaching classes. Students who lag in studies are giving the preference in coaching classes. Regular classes are conducted with eight periods per day. Students who rank first three places in the Internal tests for every time will be awarded with certificates before all to encourage all students. Also the students, who place first three ranks (in department level) in the exams conducted by Anna University, will be awarded with special prizes and certificates by the college as well as the respective departments. Additionally they are granted with scholarships by arranging a special day to honor the toppers called “Topper's day". All this rewards are distributed to students only in order to motivate them.
Co-Curricular activities
The students are not only trained in academic excellence but are also encouraged to acquire industry exposure through in-plant training. Students are allowed and encouraged to actively present their new ideas through paper presentation in various national and international level conferences and also upgrading their knowledge by attending workshops. Various events such as debugging, multimedia design, quiz programs, website design etc., are conducted to promote the students' technical knowledge. The English Literary Association meetings are organized periodically. Prominent personalities from other institutions are invited to deliver guest lectures and students are also encouraged to speak in English and exhibit their talents on the stage. Periodically competitions are organized by the Department in writing essays, short stories and poems etc. Prizes are awarded to the students who secure first three places in various competitions.
Extra-Curricular activities
Sports day is celebrated once in an year to honor the winners in every games such as long jump,100m running race etc...All games are conducted by splitting each departmental student into each house, in order to promote the competition spirit among houses. The winner house, receiving more points will be awarded with the Championship trophy. NSS camps are arranged for the students once in an year apart of their academic schedule. Not only boys, but also girls are participating in the NSS camp enthusiastically. Blood donation camps are also arranged inside the campus to give a chance for students to save a life. Industrial visits are conducted for all third year students every year.
Cafeteria
A Canteen along with snacks center called “Paul's" is provided for the students in the college campus. Canteen will function for every working day, open from morning 9.00 am and closes at 6.00 pm every day. The boys and girls sections are separated in canteen area as well as in snacks center. Caterers from outside the campus serve healthy and yummy food in the canteen.
Transport facilities
This institution is well connected with Tirunelveli & Tuticorin within 40-45kms by road and rail. Transport facilities are arranged for students from Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Udangudi, Thisayanvillai, Tiruchendur & Kulasai.
Conclusion
As this college is established with the motto to reach technology to the rural students, it is progressing more and more with its development every year. This reputed institution fulfills the dream, of even poor to become an engineer. To motivate all meritorious students, awards are given. As this institution is providing more focus on the academic results and placement training, there lay a greater scope for students in placing various software companies.
