Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Mumbai Review The first thing that comes to mind when I think about Vidyalankar College is it's location right besides Sangam Nagar in Wadala (East).
Sangam Nagar is a messy place, and when the college was newly built people refrained from taking admission here only due to this reason. However, that has changed significantly now with some great constructions like Dosti Acres and two Lloyds Estate towers coming up nearby. The area has developed pretty well and kept neat & tidy for easy commuting. BEST bus no.110 is the one that most students (getting down at Dadar railway station) use from "Dadar Kabutar khaana" bus stop or "Plaza cinema" bus stop. For students getting down at Wadala railway station, there are cheap share-a-taxi services available along with BEST bus no.175 till Vidyalankar college.
The college fest "Verve" is a great hit amongst VIT students and they look forward to participating in it every year. There are hundreds of student volunteers who come forward to organize this fest that consists of some wonderful contests like Fashion show event, Volleyball event, Football event, Tug-Of-War event, Ad Mad show (based on advertisements which students have to create in teams), Talent (or celebrity) contest (where individual students come dressed like some celebrity and mimic them), Singing contest, Antakshari contest, Best buddy contest (where 2 best friends are asked questions about each other), etc. Apart from this intra-college fest, there is a technical fest called "Fervor" that is also conducted in Vidyalankar. In this contest, technical students are slotted against each other for various technical contests and there are also some good technology based stalls to share useful information.
The college infrastructure is pretty good and consists of some very good architecture, especially for the glass building. The class rooms are air-conditioned and quite spacious. Also, there are several labs for practicals and they consists of good apparatus for experiments as well as good desktop PCs. Some classrooms are also equipped with wonderful digital projectors. The famous section of the college is the library (with tonnes of well-maintained books for student reference) and reading area where students sit and study together during breaks, in-between lectures and sometimes even when they bunk lectures. This area is over-crowded on assignment submission days and project submission days. The college has good ground space for major events and playing sports. It even boasts of a decent parking area for students and faculty who come on bikes as well as in cars.
The food served in the college canteen is tasty and very much edible. "Executive Lunch" served in the canteen is quite popular. The normal food items served in the canteen are Aloo paratha, Missal Pav, Pav Bhaji, Lunch Thali, etc. Now, the canteen also comprises of a franchise outlet of the eatery joint "Snack In the Box". This eatery outlet serves yummy Rocher shakes, Nutella waffles, lasagna, etc. Among engineering colleges, Vidyalankar college canteen is supposed to be one of the most popular ones.
From teaching perspective, Vidyalankar college has some of the better professors for engineering as well as BSc-IT courses. Many of the professors who teach in Vidyalankar classes are part of the college faculty which increases the standard of teaching in this college. In fact, VIT students avoid taking many classes or tuitions as the professors are so good.
