About the institute: The Bhemanna Khandre Institute of Technology (BKIT), formerly Rural Engineering College(REC), is the institution which is 30 years of old and is one of the good institutes in Karnataka State. The institute is affiliated to visvesvaraya Technological University, Belguam commonly known as VTU and AICTE.
Infrastructure: Though the college is located in rural area it possess good infrastructure and facilities. The college has separate boys and girls hostel with facilities like their own ambulance, generator, free internet cafe etc. The built up area of college buildings and grounds is nearly 40 acres.
Courses Offered: The college offers courses in following main streams: 1. Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) 2. Master in business administration (MBA) 3. Master in computer applications (MCA) 4. Master in technology (MTech)
The engineering department of BKIT offers following courses: 1. Computer science and Engineering. (120 intake) 2. Civil Engineering. (120) 3. Mechanical Engineering. (120) 4. Chemical Engineering. (30) 5. Electronics Engineering. (120) 6. Electrical Engineering. (60) 7. Telecommunications. (40) 8. Information science and Engineering. (40) 9. Instrumentation technology. (40) Post graduation following stream is also available: 1. MTech in Water Resource Management. 2. MTech in Geo-Technical Engineering.
Eligibility Criteria and Admission procedure: The BKIT has 50% government quota. which means 50% seats are to be filled on the basis of rankings in CET conducted by Karnataka Government.
If you want admission through management quota then you can contact the college.
Students seeking admission to B.E. should have completed their 10+2 with minimum of 40% aggregate marks.
Faculty:This is the main area where college is lagging behind. Faculty is well educated and teaches theory part but practical knowledge can not be expected.
Library: Library section is very good which contains almost every book required for you to study. The library has three sections: Main section where you can sit and read the course related material and books. Second section is periodicals which contains copies of all the magazines that are published in almost all the fields in India. Third section is digital library in which you can read digital books online on the net. Thus library section is good.
Laboratory: Laboratory section is also sufficient though you may get problems while handling some devices. But nothing to worry here also as all the devices are sufficient and are not in bad condition.
Canteen: This facility may also disappoint you but there no other option. And may be this is problem in almost all the college canteens, so you can neglect and avoid it.
Sports: College organize annual events of sports but that are not so good and also not so bad. It is ok section. You will get good Gym to workout daily in college campus which is near hostel.
Conclusion: It is up to you to take or not to take admission in this college. Some things are really changing and you can do your own research regarding the college. But there are more factors that force me to advise you to not to take admission in this college. Some things are really good which we rarely found in an engineering college but some are worse also. But remember nothing is 100% perfect in the world. Everything has both sides dark and bright, so the colleges have both sides. Judge yourself and take right decision that is my advice.
