Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering and Technology, Thiruvallur Review
Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering SVCE is a private college located in Pennalur, Sriperumbudur near Chennai. SVCE was founded by the Sri Venkateswara Educational and Health Trust (SVEHT) and is one of the oldest private engineernig college which was started in the year 1985. The college was established by well known SPIC company and is one of the top notch engineering college in Chennai.
SVCE provides ideal platform for students encouraging research oriented study methods. The college has very good industrial collaboration which enables the students to get better jobs even during the tougher times. The college website posts a special page for all the achievements the students receive and thereby encouraging each and every extra cirricular activities. The college boasts of 653,400.0 sq ft area with well built infrastructure embedded in green surroundings.
The central library of the college is 3-storeyed and is infested with IEEE, ACM and ASME journals. More than 50000 journals are available apart from major online journals that are subscribed. All departments in the college maintain their own departmental libraries. The library uses active internet connection to access the e-books and e-journals to promote e-learning. A library committee headed by the Principal,along with the Heads of Departments and student representative meet each year to discuss about the development that can be facilitated in the libraries.
The campus has a very good synthetic tennis court, swimming pool, well maintained cricket ground along with 400m track for athletes. The college encourages the students to participate in zonal, intra and extra mural, TIES and other college level championship matches in all aspects. The campus provides 24 x 7 medi care facility by appointing a doctor and nurse in a newly constructed health centre.
The campus is located far away from the city at a distance of around 30 kilometres from the city. On the other hand the transportation facilities provided by the college exceeds the expectations by far means. They have 65 buses operating to fulfil the needs of the students. The buses operate even on sundays for special classes and other extra cirricular activities scheduled on that day.
The management encourages the students by awarding 5% of the total college tuition fee income to students as prizes to top scorers in college tests and university examinations. Gold medals are awarded for university toppers.
Apart from that a silver medal is awarded for the college first rank holder. The college also awards Cash Prize to the Best Student Project of the Department. The college also awards students for best project, outstanding undergraduate and sports person.
