Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Public School, Hyderabad Review
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Public School, BHEL Township, RCPuram, HyderabadPopularly known as Bhavan's Public School among the teachers, students and parents, the school was established in the year 1977 on 18th of July. The school is located in the picturesque locale of BHEL township. It was on the request of the BHEL management that the school was set up by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, India's one of the largest voluntary national organization. The chief aim of the school was to serve the educational needs of the children of BHEL as well as that of the neighbourhood. Even now the student profile is a mix of students coming from BHEL families and the neighbouring localities.
The school is affiliated to CBSE and has classes beginning from LKG to class X. In the year 1998 classes for XI and XII were discontinued. It began with a student strength of 475. Now it has grown up to almost 2500. Humanities, Sciences, Work Experiences and Fine Arts are the field on which the school provides its expertise.
Picturesque Location The school campus is located in the picturesque BHEL Township. It has been blessed with 10 acres of land, surrounded by beautiful and tall green trees. The school has the perfect ambiance and environment for teaching and learning. The serene atmosphere and the open spaces gives the school a special advantage. The school has dedicated facilities for sports like, cricket, football, hockey, volleyball, table tennis and gymnastics.
Emphasis on all round development The school not only emphasizes on studies, but also gives a lot of importance to extra-curricular activities. For the all round development of the students, the school focuses on sports, cultural and literary activities. From dance, music, painting, first-aid, carpentry, fashion designing, NCC, yoga, gymnastics and Gita recitation - they have it all. The school also takes its students to far away places in the country for excursions and to participate in different cultural and sports competitions. The annual sports fest and the annual house function are events which every Bhavanite of RCPuram and the parents look forward to. Diwali Sneha Sammelan is one more such event, which is celebrated with much fun-fare. Students are allowed to set up their own game or food stall. They become entrepreneurs for the day. The event witnesses a large footfall.
Academic performance The school boasts very good results from its 10th standard students. After 10th, the students take admission in various colleges dotting Hyderabad. Chief among them are Narayana and FIITJEE. The teachers are dedicated, especially those who take the higher classes and as such during the 10th board exams, a lot of students get A1 grade. In line with current technology, the school boasts of smart boards in each classroom.
Because of the above mentioned benefits and also because the fee structure is very low compared to other schools, there is a heavy demand for getting admission in the school. Wards of BHEL employees are given the first preference during admission. Others too can join as per vacancies.
A few drawbacks The school has a few drawbacks. Compared to the number of students in each class, the rooms are small. The classes are congested. A new building is being constructed adjacent to the old one. Hopefully once it is constructed, the strength of each class will come down and there will be enough breathing space for the students. The infrastructure of the laboratories too need to be developed. Though the outside of the building has been painted recently, but the interiors too need to be painted. The washrooms too need to be cleaner. The school is a bit relaxed in matters of discipline.
Apart from the few drawbacks, which are likely to be corrected soon, I will rate this school highly. This is the school where my son is studying presently. I recommend the school to all.
