Asutosh College, Kolkata Review Asutosh College was established in 1916 by the great Bengali academician, mathematician and justice Sir Asutosh Mukherjee. Earlier the college was in the premise of South Suburban School, but later in 1935 was shifted to the present campus. The college was named after its founder Sir Asutosh Mukherjee after his demise in 1924.
The college is one of the best colleges affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Backed by a great past, the college is moving forward to a grand future. The faculty and library are worth mentioning. There is a central library which is fully digitalised. In addition, every department has its own departmental library. The class rooms are spacious, the canteen caters to the need of the students and is hygienic. The connectivity is excellent. The faculties in each and every department are well-experienced.
However, I would like to specifically mention the Training Centre. The Asutosh College Training Centre (ACTC) was established in 1993 in the Premise of 10, Basanta Bose Road, Kol -26, adjacent to the main college Building. It is commonly called the Annexe Building. The Centre provides training for West Bengal Civil Services Examination, NET/SLET and teaches various language courses and different courses suitable for employment. This Training Centre has become very popular and is instrumental to employment of many students.
