Hans Raj College, Delhi Review
Hans Raj College which is commonly known as HRC, is one of the largest and best colleges of the University of Delhi. It has been counted in top 10 Arts Colleges in India. This college is co- educational institute which offers quality education in all the three streams- arts, science and commerce, and is located at the heart of Delhi University's North campus on the Mahatma Hans Raj College Road, Kamla Nagar.
The college building is very beautiful. It is very old and prestigious college not only in Delhi but in India. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the College premises or any other part of Delhi University as well as on public transport. There are separate building for Arts and Science but it doesnt matter with the student. They all enjoy together. Hansraj has society based groups. There is also a group of society less lazy bones, just forming a face in the crowd. In general, people are genuinely warm ad well meaning. A very positive aspect of the college atmosphere is that it gives every student their own place, letting them grow into the person they want to and can be...:-)
This college has varied disciplines in Delhi University and boasts of faculty of international repute. They offer courses in Arts, Science and Commerce as well. Arts stream is very good and ranked in top 10 all over India. Many great man has been passed out from this college. The popular hangout for the intellectual sorts is most definitely D- school( Delhi School Of Economics). The nearby metro station connects the students to almost any part of Delhi. Thus when feeling a bit venturesome, Connaught place with its bustle of activities it serves as one of the favourite student hangouts. The cafeteria or canteen, lovers point and the basketball court along with the common room are the perpetual haunts of Hansraj students. The canteen is spread over 375 mtrs. and accommodates approximately 150 users. Staff members and students share the Canteen. It aims to provide a variety of quality food & beverages at competitive rates.The college is also famous for its secret addas you wont find it though..:-) One can take a rejuvenating cycle ride to almost anywhere around campus.
Near to the college is the Kamla Nagar market which is very popular among HRC students. Chacha Di Hatti and the famous chaat stall are the hot favourite spots for foodies. Momos point and the ever-enticing Kamla Nagar market are ideal places to hang out. Kingway Camp Metro Station is also there, you can go there by Metro and take rickshaw to reach here. At a few distance there is McDonalds , KFC, Dominos, Bercos, Chacha Di Hatti, and many other famous restaurant which is newly opened and an old restaurant as well like Bercos which is very popular, Omelletes, Ramble, Samrat, Park Heavens, etc. Also there are many other roadside eatery shop to eat foods like dhabas which is very famous and the students are fond of it because of cheap price and also taste. Kamla Nagar is also famous for Gola, students come here for it also. There are almost all the Banks ATM like ICICI Bank, Citibank, HSBC, HDFC, Canara Bank, etc so one wont get stuck if the cash money is not carrying. There are many shops, departmental store, branded retail shops like Adidas, Reebok, United Colors of Benetton, Puma, Nike, Flying Machines, John Players, etc..also there are fancy store for accessories, bags, footwear, apparels and books store, etc.
Well, the College has four well-equipped and well-managed Computer Laboratories. Approximately 130 state-of-the-art machines from IBM, HCL & HP and LCD Projectors and an interactive board are available along with all necessary peripherals. The machines and programmes are continuously upgraded to ensure the market relevance of acquired skills. Internet facility is now available in Library, Computer Lab & Office and Staff - Room. Also, Internet facility is now available for students inside the library..:-) Admitted students should contact the Librarians office with their fee slip and a thumb - size photograph for issue of Identity and Library cards. Students are issued four Library cards (two for the General Section, one for Departmental library & one for the Text Book Section). The library is very big and consists of almost all the books. The students come here for books and study very cooly.
The college ground is very big and spacious. There are all the sports activities common and students participate with great energy. They organize various functions and celebrates all the festivals in the college, not only freshers but all get indulge in it and celebrate it with great fun. All are welcome to enjoy. The hotel is very nice, all the facilities are there but there is only boys hostel.
The students and the teachers all are very good, intelligent and teachers behave very friendly with their students. Teachers are very talented and understanding. They are all devoted to their work so seriously that they are always available for their students. Academic level of the college is very good. The students are just bindass..wear funky clothes from branded as well as local but always stay in style and enjoy their life.
