Ayatpur High School, CUTTACK Review Ayatpur is a village in a rural area on the outskirts of Cuttack city. Due to there being no school in the vicinity, children had to go some distance of about 8 km to either Biribati or Sidheswar for high school education. Many even stopped studies after primary studies. This was observed by Mr. Parsuram Mohapatra, the erstwhile Zamindar of the village. He wanted to build a high school in the village for the benefit of children in the area. So he persuaded his brothers and arranged to donate about 10 acres of land for the school and got registered with the Government of Odisha for building the school in 1967. He sold his land arranged to get a few government grants and built the school single-handedly. His village people did not support him in the earlier stages, but he made them understand that, if the school is built then the children of about 20 villages could benefit. Then they understood his noble thought. Mr Pasuram Mohapatra arranged to build two schools, namely Ayatpur Middle English School, which catered for classes 6th & 7th, and another school named Ayatpur High School, which catered for classes 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th. He built the schools brick by brick and got them some government status from the Govt. of Odisha. He got all the teachers recruited himself and enrolled them in the payroll of the government. He initiated a managing committee to run the school and remained chairman of the school until his death on 7th January 1979.
He always ensured that good and quality education was imparted in the school and he used to motivate all the teachers for it. Due to his sheer zeal and dedication, thousands of children have studied in the school and their careers have flourished. He is not there now, but every inch of the school is remembering his noble and philanthropic deeds.
