Overview
Faculty Higher Secondary School is one the most reputed school in all over North Guwahati. It is mainly known for its excellence in academics and at the same times the well equipped facilities that are provided to the students. It was the first school in Assam to be affiliated under C.B.S.E and to follow the C.B.S.E prescribed syllabus. Mr. Pradeep Kumar Bhuyan, chairman of Osom Education trust had founded the school in 1982 with an idea of catering quality and proper education to all. The school is having class from nursery to senior higher secondary. The whole school covers a total area of 70,000 sq.m providing enough vacant spaces for the students to enjoy and practice physical training. The school also has international contacts with abroad schools. The school publishes all its yearly events and news on the school magazine ‘Tapasya.
Location
The school is situated in between lush greenery and pollution free environment. The school is located almost 15 to 20 km from the main city of Amingaon, North Guwahati. It is situated on the opposite side of the Khoka Market. The school being located near the bank of the mighty Brahmaputra, a tranquil environment mixed with the cool breeze of the river provides the best environment to pursue knowledge and enlighten.
Bus Facilities
The school provides school buses for all the students including those who come from Lower Guwahati. The buses cover all the major routes of both North as well as Lower Guwahati. The school buses are well maintained and comfortable.
Academic and curriculum
It was the first school in Assam to be affiliated under the C.B.S.E boards. C.B.S.E syllabus and course is strictly followed in the school. English, Science, Mathematics, Social Science and Hindi are the main subjects where as Sanskrit and Computer Science are additional secondary subjects allotted to the students. The school being located in an educational sector provides apt and highly qualified teachers to cater education to the students. One of the most excellent merit points of the school is its academic performance and its excellence in it. The academic performance of the school increase year after year and all the credit goes to the experienced teacher and also the students. Training programs and workshops for both teacher and students has shown colourful results.
Infrastructures and facilities
Out of 70,000 sq. m of land 50,000 sq. m are provided with of outdoors facilities to the student in the form of well maintained playgrounds for football, cricket, basketball and volleyball. The school also provides facilities for indoor games like table tennis. A cafeteria is also provided for the students to hang out during lunch time and to have lunch there. The auditorium provides a platform for conduction of various cultural programs and other school festivals and activities. Along with this, an open theater is also provided to enjoy drama and other activities with nature. The school is equipped with well maintained science laboratories and biotechnology lab. High speed inter facilities are also provided to the students in the computer lab to gather more information on a particular topic. Smart classes are also being introduced in classed.
Co-curricular activities
Dance club, literary club, team club, music club, art and craft club provide a platform for the students to fully express their talents and creative ideas. The school yearly organizes many sports competitions along with drama, painting, debate, spelling bee, street play, dancing, creative writing and many other competitions to keep the creativity of the students alive. The school also provides coaching in sports and professional vocation training to the students after school hours.
Admission and fee structure
Admission of the students for the new session starts from the month of March. The selection of the students is mainly done through written exams and interviews. Cut-off percentage of the previous class annual examination is also taken into consideration while selecting the students. Admission form can be issued from the school website from the first week of October. The forms must be must be submitted before the last date of submission whereas for the class XI student, they have to submit the form within the first week of the declaration of the Board Exam Result. The fee structure is quite apt but it may change yearly.
