C.S.I Matriculation Higher Secondary School was started in the year 1981 at Nagercoil. The school is operating under the management of C.S.I. Kanyakumari Diocese. The school is recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu and it follows the syllabus as prescribed by the TN government. The school has slowly extended its education service from middle level school to a higher secondary school. C.S.I Matriculation Higher Secondary School is a co-educational institution which is offering education from LKG to class XII. English is the medium of instructions in the school.
AcademicsThe school follows trimester pattern and equity syllabus as prescribed by the Tamil Nadu State Government for classes I to X. For classes XI and XII, the school offers education in the following groups.
Group 1: Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Group 2: Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology
Group 3: Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science
Group 4: Economics, Computer Science, Commerce, Accountancy
In addition to the above mentioned combination of subjects, the students should compulsorily learn English language and should select any one language from Tamil/ Malayalam/ Hindi/French as per their choice of learning.
FacilitiesThe school has spacious, well-furnished classrooms, well-equipped Physics lab, Chemistry lab, Biology lab and Computer lab. The school uses smart board, overhead projectors and educates the students in association with educomp. The school uses Capture Software and records the lessons taught by the teachers and screens the recordings multiple times to the weak students for the better understanding of the subject. To meet the informational need of the students, the school library is well stocked with a large number of books and also has computers with internet facility. The school uses school-mate software to send information regarding the students and other information about the school to parents through SMS facility. The school has playground and facilities for indoor and outdoor games.
ActivitiesThe school conducts sports meet every year and motivates the students to participate in aerobics, pyramid, mass drill and skating. Special training is given to the students in athletic events, games and sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, chess, table tennis and badminton. To unleash the talent of the students in fine arts, the school conducts competitions in debate, elocution, music, dance, art from waste, clay modelling, etc.
