Chinmaya Vidyalaya(CV), Nagapattinam is a co-educational, CBSE affiliated, English medium institution established in the year 1997 and is managed by Madras Chinmaya Seva Trust. It is a senior secondary school which offers education from Pre.KG to class XII. The school was introduced to provide universal education to the students. The school strives to tune the students by endowing the knowledge, efficiency and spirit of service. To transmit the knowledge, culture, discipline and values to the students, the school has efficient teachers. Chinmaya Vidyalaya takes necessary innovative steps to build the character, personality, creativity and skills of the students.
Academics CV follows the curriculum as prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education. From Pre.KG to class XII, the school involves the students into various scholastic and co-scholastic activities and tries to develop the potential of the individuals. Education is given on subjects such as Languages, English, Mathematics, Science, Social and Computer. The overall excellence of the students is evaluated as per the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) System of the CBSE board. The CCE system helps to develop the overall personality of the students. Regular assessments will be conducted to assess the subject knowledge and learning efficiency of the students. Infrastructure Chinmaya Vidyalaya is located at an easily accessible location in Nagapattinam. The school campus covers an area of 4.21 acres land with necessary infrastructure and facilities. Separate classrooms are available for each section with full-fledged smart boards and digital teaching aids. To develop the practical knowledge of the students, the school has furnished and well-equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer laboratories. An audio-visual room is present in the school with an LCD projector to conduct special classes and meetings. Activities and Events To develop the personality, creativity and talent of the students, the school motivates the students to participate in various co-curricular activities such as Arts, Dance, Carnatic Classical Vocal, Gardening, Cookery, Dramatics, Handicraft & Needlework, Science Club Nature Club, and Yoga. The school preaches the important values in Bhagavad Gita to the students and conducts Gita Chanting competition every year.
The school encourages the students to attend Chinmaya Yuva Kendra and Chinmaya Bala Vihar camps which teaches the moral and cultural values to the students through various fun activities, adventure activities and cultural programmes. The school also takes the students to educational tours and field trip programmes.
To ignite the flame of creativity in the students, CV trains the students in various activities like painting, drawing, fabric design, sand image, greeting card making, collage, paper-based craft work, wax molding, batik and terracotta. The school provides training in sports and games such as football, throw ball, chess, carrom, badminton, table tennis, volleyball and athletics. Interested students can attend the sports training and participate in inter-school and intra-school sports competitions.
The school follows a house based system and conducts various inter-school competitions.
