Said to be amongst the top 50 schools in India, Delhi Public School Jalandhar is a CBSE affiliated school located in Jalandhar Cantonment, Punjab. In 2018, Pricewaterhouse Coopers India in partnership with Fortune Magazine had featured its name in the Fortune 50 Schools of India. It has also been the best school in the state in at least two categories -‘Academic Results' and ‘Co-curricular Activities' as per the National Education Conference and Awards - 2018.
Established in 2002, DPS Jalandhar is the first choice for most parents in the region. It has one of the best infrastructure and facilities for its students. It has classes running from pre-nursery to higher secondary. The campus is spread over 10 acres of lush green land. With 2,00,000 sq. ft. of open space, it provides a green and serene surrounding, very much conducive for effective learning. Located away from the main city, the school gets a pollution-free atmosphere. However, its location on the GT Road ensures that students have easy access to the school from all parts of the city.
Infrastructure facilities Like every DPS school, DPS Jalandhar has the best of facilities. Right from an early age itself, the students get exposure to the latest in technologies. There are a number of labs in this respect, such as computer labs, a robotics lab and activity & science labs. Starting from simple to complex, from Grade 4 onwards, students get to participate in various projects involving robotics, automation, programming and the like.
It is not all work but no play in DPS Jalandhar. Like all best schools, sports and cultural activities also play an important part in the all-around development of the students at this school. Be it swimming, taekwondo, golf, basketball, lawn tennis, table tennis, cricket or any other sport, the school has all the facilities the students need. It even has a splash pool for the pre-primary section. Many amongst the students have represented the school at the district, state and in some cases at the national level in a variety of sports and have thus made the school proud. There are also activities like fancy dress competitions, slogan writing contests, poster making and pool parties that help students showcase their creative skills.
The school has an NCC wing of its own, through which the students get to participate in a number of adventure activities and training camps. The Student Council provides students with the opportunity to hone and showcase their leadership skills. Students are encouraged to show their mettle and the ablest amongst them are selected as Head Boy, Head Girl, Sports Captains, Literary Captains and Cultural Captains in an Investiture Ceremony that is a big day for the school and its students. The Scholar Badge Ceremony is also a special day for the school when highly meritorious students are awarded scholar badges, blazers and scholarships depending upon their academic achievements.
